The old Man Utd Thread

We play best when our players aren't really thinking about it, just knocking it about instinctively at a high tempo. Not shuffling the ball about like we did against Pompey.

Also it seems like Scholes is trying to get himself sent off.

Na, its fair enough, I wouldn't expect him to against his old club, even given the circumstances.

Would you believe it, my brain stopped working for a second there and forgot he was a Spurs player. Err, yeah that's entirely fair enough.

Last few weeks it's been a little crazy, hasn't it? The EPL seems to be living up to its billing as the best league in the world, both in terms of the strength of its sides and pure entertainment. I'd like to reiterate that we need to sign a Tevez, stat.

Utterly amazingly brilliant outstanding second half. Breathless. Fucking come on :)

The bent ref stuff just tops it all off, the sheer despair as those cunts really did think they'd still be top tonight. Naturally nothing will be said for the dive for their first against Hull and subsequent non free kick, but hey, that's some fucking comeback.

Attacking football from the boys :)

Shame I missed the bloody comeback because I lost connection :)

I just love the self-righteousness of rival fans though. They seem to think they can spew all sorts of venom and accusations against us and then we're not allowed to retaliate when we wipe the smirks of their faces.

What a result, eh? I always felt we could get back into the game even at 2-nil down. We got gifted a penalty, but I don't think anyone can deny our result and we totally deserved it! Was brilliant how we played the second half. We were a joy to watch.

Ronaldo, Rooney and Berbatov were absolutely brilliant I thought and Tevez added something when he came on too, very busy and played with snappiness which he doesn't usually. We haven't seen the four for 'em play enough together for whatever reasons this seson, but from now till the end of the season I'd have Rooney on the left, Ronaldo on the right and Berbatov and Tevez up front as my perferred strongest starting lineup.

Its been a bit of a problem as the left wing in recent weeks with both Park and Nani suffering a dip in form and while Rooney might be better up front I honestly think he's the best winger we have behind Ronaldo.

We always play attacking football, just this (apparently, I didn't watch it) wasn't ponderous. It's good to play ponderous football in Europe sometimes, but in the Premier League that doesn't cut it.

Oh I know, I'm still amazed. I meant that all out, shred the opposition and score what seemed to be 4 goals in the space of 5 minutes. I mean they probably were spread out more, but we murdered them. It was the intent we set out with that I was admiring and wubbing over, it was brilliant.

Naturally all the talk will be about the penalty, which I've yet to see. Listened on the radio and they thought it was (though being a local Manchester station they're not necessarily the most reliable), but I notice the BBC aren't disputing it, nor the live text guy.

1850: I have just seen another replay of the penalty decision. Can I change my mind? I'm not sure Gomes got any of the ball.

Edit- that said, the same link now quotes Fergus as syaing it was fortunate, ha ha

What can't be denied is that we had chances before that- Tevez one on one, Rooney after Keane gave the ball away both moments before the pen. We looked ominous and dangerous before our opener, though that shit will more than likely go unmentioned too.

Found a video of the penalty, and Gomez's challenge. *edit* I see someone's got a gif already.

Seems like he got the ball to me. The sort of thing you see given all the time, though. You don't want it too be to too obvious when you pay a ref, needs to change the game on the borderline decisions, not make it too obvious. Only Benitez knows... so yeah I don't think it was penalty.
