The old Man Utd Thread

You won't be saying that if they ever ban clubs in debt from Europe, then again if they do that it'll only ever be us and Citeh who get to go!

Kinda silly idea yeah.

Virtually every big club in England, Italy and Spain is in dept.

Would Uefa realy suddenly chuck all of the big names out of their biggest revinue source? :)

Thats hows its got to this stage, if they had done something like that 10-15 years ago then maybe a lot of the stupid business going on now would never have happened.

The Kaka stuff is complete bullshit. In fact, the whole thing seemingly has spawned from a year old thread from the Redcafe forums. Must be a slow news day.

Football exclusive: KAKA DREAMS OF PLAYING FOR UNITED

World Player of the Year, Kaka, has declared his dream for playing for Manchester United in an exclusive interview with a local Milan radio station. The news will come as a pleasant surprise to the European Champions amidst uncertainty about Cristiano Ronaldo's future. It is said that the hierachy at United see Kaka as the only replacement for Ronaldo, should he leave.

Speaking from his home, Kaka revealed, "I love Milan. I've had a great time here, won the Champions League and some great memories. But football is all about challenges and I feel I'm ready for a new one."

After Milan's failure to qualify for this years Champions League many pundits felt this was Kaka's chance to move on.

"I'm young and at the peak of my football and want to play at the biggest level. The Premier League is the best league in the world and it'd be fantastic to be a part of that. And obviously Manchester is the best place to be at right now. They are European Champions, so it's fantastic no? And when I played there last year, it was a great atmosphere." Kaka added

The opportunity to play with the stars at United is an added attraction. "United have some great players. Giggs and Scholes are legends. Then there's Rooney. And also Anderson who is a good friend of mine."

And when asked if he'd like to play at United his answer was straightforward, "Yes, how can anyone say no? They are European Champions. It will be a dream come true."

This news will no doubt shock Carlo Ancellotti who has just recently pledged his future to Milan. But Sir Alex Ferguson will no doubt sleep easier tonight, knowing that should his star man leave there's another eager to take his place.

Really?

Lets say UEFA decree you have to have less than 50% of your club's worth of debt to qualify, you'd have to come up with £90m and a bit to do that, that's a hell of a lot of money to clear 5% of your debt. 4 out of 7 at the bottom are the top 4 and 5 of them are English, we have a much unhealthier league in that respect than anywhere.

Also going by that list - Newcastle are totally fucked if they go down.

Team: VDS, Rafael, RIO, Vidic, Evra, Ronaldo, Carrick, Fletcher, Nani, Berbatov, Rooney

Surprised to see Nani in there, I really hope he has a good game. I still believe he could be great for us in years to come. Very relieved to see Rio back, hopefully we can keep a clean sheet but our finishing has to be better than it was mid-week.

Do they not already?

I dunno, they're both great players but they don't seem quite sure which one of them is meant to stay back. I mean, both of their roles are largely defensive, yet they can both take the ball on the run, or pop up late in the box to score a goal. Its easier to strike a balance when they're playing with an overt attacker, like Anderson. They're not terrible together, just not the best partnership we have, so maybe I was a little harsh.

I know what you mean, but I think they play slightly different roles, Fletcher is more of a harrassing player, chasing and bullying people off the ball in the centre while Carrick is there to link movements and create chances. Carrick is better going forwad overall I think too. Modric and Wilson will be a handfull though...

Will be interesting to see how Pat performs against Lennon, with a view to having to keep Walcott quiet in the champions league, as they tend to play a similar game.

Going to be a tough game today, I think Spurs will probably have a go so hopefully it will be entertaining.

Yeah, it was incredible wasn't it. As was Scholes' pass for Carrick to put in the second. Just that little bit of quality can make all the difference, even if we worked a whole host of other good chances that went begging. Yes, I do think Evra-Lennon will be the key battle here today. He is an outlet for them on the break.
