The old Man Utd Thread

What can I say, we played relatively poorly and beat the best team in Italy by 2 goals. Giigs was excellent, he practically walked through there defense at times.

On the upside Park and Fletcher will be fully rested for Saturday, and we'll need them.

Well we certainly had all the luck tonight but I think we deserve the win over the two legs.

I have to agree.

I think you were fortunate to keep a clean sheet, but deserved it on account of your first leg performance.

Hope we don't draw you (yet).

Not a great performance, with Scholes in particular looking very off the pace and sloppy, but I think we did deserve to go through overall. Inter threatened early on but after Adriano's shot hit the post they never really looked like getting back into it.

More just old Itlaian footballers in general.... although perhaps Inter represents the more spritely of the Milan teams!

Figo (although not Italian) must be around 50 by now though.

I guess Giggs likes his olive oil too..

Not quite sure how they won that 2-0. Milan should have scored at least twice and seemed to do far more with the ball than Man U did. It was infuriating how often a nonchalant flick or stupidly ambitous pass destroyed a good attack - I was so sure at 1-0 that we were getting too brash and would be punished. A lucky escape for me, and a ridiculously kind score to a match that seemed completely open for 70 odd minutes.

Not long to go now, already a little nervous!

Rumours are that Alonso may not play, which is a bonus for us although I won't read into it too much until the teams are announced.

Pretty sure we'll see the same team as wednesday with the addition of Park and Fletcher in midfield, presumably at the expense of Giggs and Scholes.

The only thing i'm worried about is if Babel plays as he really could cause O'Shea some problems. On the flip side O'Shea will get further forward than whoever they have at LB and he does have form in these games!

Team:

VDS

O'Shea

Rio

Vidic

Evra

Ronaldo

Carrick

Anderson

Park

Rooney

Tevez

Not sure who's on the bench, but I like the look of the team.

Edit: Foster, Scholes, Giggs, Berba, Nani, Evans and Fletcher on the bench.

Happy to see such an attacking team. Will be interesting to see who picks up Gerrard. I would have thought Fletcher would have done that role but maybe we'll rely on isolating him from Torres. Lucas vs Anderson is interesting on a Brazilian front too.

Cant complain it was a red card all day long.

We dominated the 2nd half without really creating any clear cut chances. Tevez has two half chances but he proves yet again hes not worth a huge sum of money after his control let him down.

Now we have to make sure we that game in hand.
