Touche!

How did he get away with the punch btw? It was right in front of the ref and linesman, apparently the yellow he get was for an earlier un-related foul. Should have been red realy

The guys doing the commentary on Key 103 Manchester where of the opinion that he was booked for a foul on Carrick, he cleared Carrick out about 5 seconds post whacking Ronaldo with his forearm.

It's an amazing run of wins the team is on, perhaps even more remarkable that they haven't really played to a consistently high level for a full game this season.

Recent Form - last 6 matches

Or, WWWWW WWWWW WD

Perhaps even more remarkable is Liverpool/ Chelsea could go on a similar run and win 11 games, we could lose nearly a quarter of our remaining and would still win the league. I mean they won't go on that run and I can't see us losing at home (excluding fuck ups like West Ham 06/07 and that Derby County disgrace in 2000/01 when the league was already formally won), but it shows how much of a canter it's been. Especially as the squad has played 8 thousand matches, pissed off all around the world and had a fair share of injuries.

Imagine, defeats to Fulham and Inter and the season is effectively over this time next week. Still, it will make for a nice end of season party against Liverpool.

Talking of Derby County in 2000/01, if that happened this season would be spookily similar to 2K1...

Rooneys goal though last night,

If anything the deflection took it closer to the keeper and he still didn't save it!

Anyway, as bowser says it's been a remarkable run for a team that have really not played that well. It just shows what you can do when your manager puts faith in your team to attack ;)

I imagine it will be a 'weak' team at the weekend, something like,

-----------------Foster-------------------

O'Shea---Ferdinand----Evans----Fabio

Wellbeck--Anderson---Scholes---Nani

-----------Giggs-------------------------

------------------------Tevez------------

This is on the assumption that most players will be rested prior to the Inter and 'Pool games. He may play Rooney as well I suppose. Really looking forward tothe Liverpool game, with the possibility of hard midweek games we should be able to play a stronger squad against them but they do have a days extra rest and it is a 'must win' game for them.

Scholes and Giggs in a weak first team? Uh, I'm confused. Scholes should definitely start against Inter. Scholes and Carrick. Giggs... hmm I'm not sure. Inter are a tough side, perhaps not a good idea to play the two oldies at once.

Rooney and Ronaldo will most likely start, Berbatov will probably be rested. Vidic will probably play too, of the centre pair Rio is more likely to be rested imo if at all, unless of course Vidic's head injury from yesterday is a problem but I doubt it.

Fulham are no push over this season, they dominated the game yesterday and were realy unlucky that they lost, to a MANUcho goal. Good to see him actually play a bit at Hull.

Nani might get a game, pressuming that Park will be saved for Inter, although he needs to proove himself worthy atm as he was awful at the weekend.

The Inter game is the big one now, the Liverpool game doesn't realy matter any more apart from in bragging rights...

Can't wait. ;)

Picking Ferdinand was based on Fergie saying he needed more games, although he could just as easily play Vidic instead. I really can't see Ronaldo playing from the start and I assume Park will be rested for the Inter game. Scholes didn't play yesterday so I would expect him to be in against Fulham unless he his rested for the Inter game.

Ronaldo is due a rest, he played in the final and yesterday so an other game in 6 days might be a bit too much. Scholes won't have played due to the fact he played 2 hours in the final, and I think he'll start the Inter match so he might not feature in the Fulham game either.

Either way, it'll be a strong team and should have enough quality to break down a fairly average Fulham team. The last time we played them they didn't even seem to try - more of the same please Roy! ;)

Fulham seem to at least try to attack and cause problems, regardless of the team, when they're playing at Craven Cottage. I don't expect them to just sit back and take it, if we play a weakened side it'll be tough to keep them completely quiet. Look at their position in the league, they're doing very well.

Excellent interview with Fletcher on the Daily Mail (!) website.

Really interesting when he talks about Keane's influence and also a nice bit about Giggs after lastyears CL final;

As substitute Fletcher joined the rest of the Manchester United squad celebrating their Champions League final victory over Chelsea in Moscow, Ryan Giggs stuck his head into the huddle of players.

‘He said, “Lads, this is what it’s all about — let’s have it next year as well”,’ Fletcher recalls. ‘And we were looking at this trophy, which hadn’t even been presented to us, and there was Ryan already talking about next year. It brought home to me what this club is about.

I remember Giggs saying something similar in the post match interview but it's still impressive. Most people are just happy to be playing at all at his age!

Great interview , loved this....

"How about this? Carlos Tevez, Ji-sung Park and Patrice Evra are best mates.

‘What language do they speak? One is Argentine, one is Korean and the other is French, but they walk around together, they banter with each other. What they have in common, I don’t know."

Poor, poor defending there (no closing down at all!) and I think any keeper from the top three would have saved that.

Commentary is very annoying too "lovely" from Tevez, when his backheel didn't work. "Great strike" from Carrick - not hard enough easy save. I can backheel balls that don't find a team mate and hit shots not hard enough to trouble keepers. I must be a world beater!

How many more will you chalk up? Place your bets!

I'm sure Hodgson will be telling his team not to bother - as they'd never beat Man United anyway - just like he did for their Prem encounter.

I'm pretty sure this is the sort of crap that you get all indignant about in your thread.

Another decent performance with some good goals. Rooney looked pretty awesome, great to have him fit in the run in.

Only decent? At times we played some absolutely outstanding football, and the move that lead to Rooney's miss was superb. Tevez, Rooney & Park were all on fire, and it's a shame Tevez didn't finish with a hat-trick. Really glad for Park, for all his work he was rewarded with a lovely goal.

0 - 4 :)

Good performance today.

Question tho !

Am i missing something with Anderson, everytime i see him play he is utterly utterly shite - so bad he would struggle to get in West Broms team ! But you seem to play him a fair bit - why ???

He was pretty anonymous today though he has just come back from injury. I think it's fair to say he was better last season though. I hope he didn't peak with the game against Liverpool where he ran the show.

That said he's also, like Nani, had less opportunities this season I think, and that's even with Hargreaves out of the picture. He has Carrick, Scholes, Fletcher and Giggs to compete against for a central midfield place so he hasn't really had a run in the team for a while.
