The old Man Utd Thread

Getting Robbie Savage in the bollocks at the weekend was better than scoring. He still knows how to take a free kick, he just knows how to get a move to Madrid in the summer as well. It's good he's showing this awesome squad that it would be better off with £100m than him next year. Not relying on his ludicrous supply of goals every match has made the team far more formidable.

I don't believe we'd be better off without Ronaldo next year. And if he was to go we wouldn't get near the £100M mark in my opinion.

People have to realise he won't ever get to those dizzy heights of last year again, It was just one of those seasons for him. I still think he's vitally important for us and I'm happy with his current form too - 15 goals and 9 assists in all comps is a bloody good return for a winger.

Anyway, fantastic result last night and I don't think I can remember Scholes misplacing a pass at all. He was well up for this one! He even made tackles without almost breaking the opponents legs!

Things seem to be just clicking into gear at the moment and we look like we might be finding that killer touch at just the right time, again.

I hope we do, if only because a lead of a few points will mean all we'll hear is "if you didn't get this decision or that decision blah blah blah moan moan moan".

The team looked good last night and the quality of our squad is really starting to show at exactly the right time. Got just over 3 weeks of massive games now, ending with Liverpool at OT.

The only way he would get even half that amount would be if City bought him.

Word on street is that Real doesn't have the money at the moment to spend on Ronaldo despite being the richest club again.

I literally can't wait.

10 points is a bit off IMO.

I don't think Chelsea are done yet, or SAF wouldn't be saying they are. :(

I think it will be closer than you think tbb, don't forget we have the FA Cup, Champions League and a cup final as well as the league in this period.

5 point above the next place would be brilliant and difficult to manage. Saying that, its nice to be playing well and scoring goals again. :D

My prediction is based on the 5 points we have now plus beating Liverpool at OT and gaining another 2 points along the way.

I'm actually far more confident about going to OT and getting a result than I am about beating your neighbours at the weekend - that's what it's like for us this season.

We look incredible right now, but everything's still quite up for grabs. Everton and West Ham in the FA cup could potentially be more of a threat than Chelsea based on current form... Fulham are doing well given their resources but we should brush them or Swansea aside. Champion's league is anyone's guess, though Barca and Inter look like they only teams that could match us. Carling Cup looks like a given unless Tottenham get it together. Finally, in the league we look to be gathering pace, and I don't see us losing it now.

I can see the next few months becoming unbelievably tense though, with all these big games to play. We play eight games in the next four weeks; the games with Inter are quite close with the Carling Cup final and the game with Liverpool. Hopefully the strength and quality of the squad will tell.

Man Utd: Kuszczak, Rafael Da Silva, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Ronaldo, Carrick, Scholes, Nani, Rooney, Berbatov.

Subs: Foster, Giggs, Vidic, Welbeck, Fabio Da Silva, Fletcher, Tevez.

Blackburn: Robinson, Ooijer, Nelsen, Givet, Warnock, Grella, Diouf, Andrews, Dunn, Pedersen, Roque Santa Cruz.

Subs: Brown, Kerimoglu, McCarthy, Khizanishvili, Mokoena, Treacy, Roberts.

No VDS today so he can't lose/add to his record. Evans playing with an eye to Tuesday I assume. Stronger than expected team otherwise.

Yeah I thought the squad might be a bit weaker with an eye on Tuesday. I assumed Vidic would be playing given his suspension but obviously he wants to give Rio and Evans a game together. I also thought Fletcher might play today but given that he isn't I reckon we might see him against Inter along with Park. Fergie always seems to favour the busy players away in Europe.
