The old Man Utd Thread

Gallas is a bellend so technically thats everytime he scores.

Just seen some highlights and the match looked pretty much like every game we have against Bolton. It would be nice to score more goals and the team certainly has the quality to do so but when your defense is practically refusing to let goals in you can't compalin too much.

Presumably because Hagreaves is out for the season.

Anderson, Carrick, Scholes, Fletcher, Gibson, Giggs, Possebon? I think we're covered in that area! I'd actually like to see Hargreaves play more on the right wing when he comes back, I think he exceptionally well when he played there last season, and it would give us an option on the wing besides Nani

Remember we've got Tosic now and Ferguson has said he should be ready for the first team around the end of Feb.

I can't see us spending 15 milion on a player we aren't desperate for, especailly when we'll have to buy a striker in the summer (Tevez or otherwise).

Benitez went on in his post-match interview about how any Liverpool fan back in August would have taken being in the position they're in now (that's a fact, by the way). I think the point is, they sure as hell wouldn't have taken it a fortnight ago when they were seven points ahead of the club he tried to fuck with :)

Tonight's match is a good one. It gets some of the fringe players going and there's no bad outcome, really. It's either a day out at Wembley for them or a Premiership match that weekend for the first team. When you're already a game behind your rivals in the league, you can do without a League Cup final, especially when you're still in two other competitions. Winning all four trophies is almost literally impossible this season.

:)

My uncles are Derby supporters, I feel sorry for them most of the time. But then when something like this happens and they somehow beat us, I get all the gloating phonecalls and it goes on for ages, no matter how badly they're doing in all other competitions. Serves me right I guess, for being the only Man Utd supporter in the family...

I see that as very defeatist. In August they would have probably taken the position they're in now, but for the last month or so they have had opportunity after opportunity to build some distance between them and the chasing pack but failed miserably.

I'd imagine most Liverpool fans would be a little pissed off by that comment.

Looking forward to tonights game, getting a chance to see some of the younger players again while also the prospect of maybe seeing Tosic is exciting.

I think City failing to snatch Kaka is a victory for football.

Anyway, that's OT.

Just wanted to respond to Trigg's comments a few posts up.

I think most Liverpool fans would've ripped your hand off if you said that we'd be up there challenging in January, so I don't think there's too much wrong with Benetiz's statement.

Most were saying that a challenge would be enough. Of course, people always want more when the original wish is granted - now that we're there, they now want to win it and see our last two results as failure (which it is, to be honest).
