@spork would you still not agree that Mata should be on instead of Rashford?

No. I do agree that Rashford should probably come off but we need someone who can offer at least some support for Williams and you're not going to get anything like that from Mata. I'd probably rather see James come on.

Considering how creative Mata is in attack/free kicks, I'd definitely have him on now.

that was beyond awful.

They got back in from shite officiating , that same shite officiating doesn't give us a pen, and then they just score a simple tap in after we have missed umpteen chances.

pathetic

edit, and thats why we need another CB

edit, dbl fuck it, lets juyst change the front 3 for james, igahlo and mata. why not! the starting 3 aint done shit but miss...

When we're debating if Mata or James should come on, just shows how little depth we have in attack. No one on the bench we can bring on to change things. Have to stick with the tired legs we have out on the pitch because the alternatives are a big step down.

What a shame. We were unlucky on the night, their goalkeeper was inspired, Sevilla were pretty dirty and the ref was poor.

It's really disappointing, but I hope our lads have a good few weeks off before the next season starts. They've been absolutely amazing since the restart and getting into third place in the league was an unbelievable achievement, something that didn't seem even remotely possible in January. They've lost three semi finals which is painful, but they've given everything and seemed exhausted at times. I can't criticise any of them.

Now we'll see if Woodward can do his job and help give us a squad that can genuinely compete next season.

Narrator: He didn't.

What a horrible team to play against Sevilla are. I don't envy their opponents in the final.

We were a little weak on the flanks I think. Rashford probably have been benched a while ago if we had anyone else to play there, never looked 100% after coming back from injury, but he's the best option we have there. Greenwood had his moments but he's not really a winger. Plus there was not much of a contribution from the fullbacks going forward. We didn't ask enough questions of them in wide areas which gave them the freedom to hurt us going the other way.

We went 80 minutes of the game without scoring, ultimately you're can't expect to win a semi final like that. Yeah we had more chances but a lot of those were us trying to play a short game right through the heart of their defence. Always going to need something exceptional to score like that. Sevilla by comparison hit us twice on the break and crossed it in. They weren't trying to attack on hard mode, they were efficient.

i dont mind losing to a better team...but we didnt.

that was shite officials that cost us.

I can't agree with that. Officiating didn't leave De Jong to tap in the winner, officiating didn't make several crucial saves. The truth is United should have won this despite the ref.

Hopefully Solskjaer feels the same, because feeling robbed isn't going to bring the improvements.

Fuck it, lets try and get some perspective out of the season...

image.png.0ba04d7ddb992cc7242dfcaa1ebd0ae2.png

ONE team lost less games than us, ONE, and only TWO teams conceded less than us in the league, and not by a lot!

We drew FAR too many, and that was mainly before we signed Bruno, and at the same time , were missing Pogba.

We got to the Semi's in 3 competitions in one season...that really is'nt bad, who else did that?! exactly...

Another season with the 1st team gelling, they WILL be better!  but, we need to strengthen the squad, and jettison the players that have no future.

We also, need a clinical goalscorer right now! as i joked earlier, im sure Cavini is a free player...we should get him!

Lets remember, it took klopp 4.5 season to get where "they" are

I'm not sure Cavani would be a great idea.  He's in decline and would demand huge wages.  Remind you of anyone?

Signing a 33 year old on big wages is such an Ed thing to do though :eyebrows:

No.

no? that's alright then. However it sure does fucking look like it. I'm not saying he intended to injure him, i mean look - hes not even looking at the guy. but you can scrub yourself through the initial tackle and if you play it full speed you can see the time from impact to him holding his head once hes worked out he's hurt himself checks out.
