This is a massive worry. I know Leicester have been inconsistent since the restart, but they will be highly motivated, and crucially have had a whole week's rest. We will have played two matches since the last time they played. I can't see us beating them, and I think a draw might be a tall order. We've got injury time to rescue this.

We need Liverpool to beat Chelsea.

this performance comes down to simply not fucking off the fa cup game. you can try and argue "it was a semi" but the bottom line is, the team needed the break!

I honestly think its the worst decision Ole has made. The 2nd team should have been played, they would have been hungry to play!

instead, were knackered as fuck, going into a must win game, against a team that hasn't played for a week.

Leicester will win from a vardy break...

Team looks like it's running on fumes. Maybe mentally as much as physically. Not expecting much will change on Sunday. Then again Leicester have been pretty poor recently - tense game with a lot riding on it between two team out of form, sounds like one for the ages.

Level on points with Chelsea with a superior goal difference - would it be too much to hope for them to lose their final two games?

ya'know, i was gonna try and look for some positives from our season, such as :-

only two teams have conceded more than us, or, only one team has lost more than us...i mean these are pretty damn good!...no, really it is!

But

we will have at least two extra games after the season, and if we went all the way, wouldn't get time off as the rest of the league (pretty much) would have at least a month off, where we would be playing until the end of Aug!?!

i mean, how exactly is that fair and consistent, if everybody else gets 4-6 weeks off, and our lads get maybe a week before they have to start pre season...i appreciate its "unprecedented times" but, the leagues that ended, they are starting pre season now!

its not tiredness. its fucking pressure. our teams been wracked with it for a good few seasons.  every chance we get to make up ground we fuck up.  bottlers. lose one game and their confidence looks shot. its mad. in positive news, liverpool are 2-0 up.

edit. 3-1 !

So at present, if we lose to Leicester at present we'll still finish 4th because our goal difference is so much better than Chelsea's?

Not if Chelsea win their last game.

We NEED to draw, a win would be great, a loss needs Chelsea to also lose.

I was listening to Talksport today and Lingard was on opening up about his mental health/family issues this season. I have to say it's really brave of him to be so open and honest about it all, and listening to him explaining the hardships he's had with him Mum being ill, looking after his young siblings, etc, really made me feel for him. I know I'm one of the first to criticise him here, but it seems like there's a lot going on in his life/mind, so it's no wonder his form has dropped so significantly. On a positive note though, he seems to be feeling better and working towards getting back to his old self. I really hope for his sake this happens, I just don't know how long the club will be willing to wait around.

He always seems like a decent person who loves his football. You could see though he had the weight of the world on his shoulders over the past months and beyond. Good to hear he is on his way back.

I wonder if it will be good for him to move to a Burnley, Everton or something so he can stay local, but play with the added pressure removed.

I don’t know about that. He seems like a man child who has needed to grow the fuck up for a few years. He and Rashford were in hot water for trashing a hotel room, was it last summer or the summer before I forget? During lockdown Marcus shamed the government and became a national treasure, while Lingard did MTV Cribs.

I'm nervous too. This team have been running on empty for weeks, and are being sent out in sheer hope for one last match to leave everything on the pitch. They're up against a team that has had a full week of rest. We've played twice since the last time Leicester played. Our form is on a downturn, and has been since the Bournemouth game. We were outplayed by Southampton, lucky against Palace, embarrassed by Chelsea, and dominated by a West Ham who didn't even have to play particularly well. We also have last year's bottling of a similar situation in our memories.

We're the favorites, which I reckon ignores the reality of the situation. I am braced for crushing disappointment.
