He had a pretty okayish loan at Crystal Palace before being kept out of the team by the emergence of a young Wan Bissaka. He then went out to Fulham and was pretty average/poor in the year they got relegated. I think in the youth teams he stood out a lot because he's got the physical presence but lacks a footballing brain.

I'm surprised Dalot didn't get the nod, I would guess Ole was worried that Zaha would target Dalot's defensive weaknesses, and that TFM is a bit stronger defensively. 

 

I saw a thing on Reddit that said that just taking results since Bruno was signed, we are top of the league.  That's pretty surprising.

not really, i mean liverpool were on for a record, then they won, forgot how to play and..."slipped" . lets hope they stay that switched off next season!

 

And TFM, still, thats an odd one, as he was also a RB/CB/DM...not a left back, whereas dalot can play there!

hes a defender, possibly the best in the league. Forward aint his game.

 

Hes only in his 2nd full season, he can learn to cross better, but give him some time. He does the actual important part of his game better than anyone!

The modern game has changed and the full-backs at the top teams are required to be more than just defenders. He sees a lot of the ball and very rarely does anything positive with it. When playing against the teams who drop deep, we need a more attacking option.

TFM, just nowhere around where he should have been.

 

And i guess thats "technically correct", i mean they have gone that way all season, i think weve had one chalked off for the same thing this season.

This thread has moved fast recently, i don't know if it's come up, but the front 3 of Greenwood, Rashford and Martial outscoring Firmino, Salah and Mane this season is quite something. A teenager in his debut season, another constantly criticized for being surly, and another who was out for a while and had no support for long periods against the smartest false no.9 around, the most prolific striker in a league season in premier league history and the best attacking player in the world who isn't Messi. It shows more to me how much of a good place Liverpool are in for spreading the goals around. Rashford alone without Martial, Fernandes, Pogba is really different. All four playing you're confident there's enough there to create chances.

 

MOTD likes to do the 3 players close to each other in a triangle as they move around the final 3rd analysis, which i like, it's easy to show but i do think every time why don't players always try for that. The first time pass by Rashford to Martial looked so easy but just as easy overthinking it. The stat about Rashford and Martial having more assists to each other than any other partnership is also impressive. We still recall the Yorke and Cole dummy and pass but Martial and Rashford are doing the same, it's just in league games always pushing for 4th rather than anything more exciting. It feels like these two have been playing with each other for years now but it's still a thing that's progressing, as the doubt around Martial the last month excepted still continues.

 

2 days less of rest than Chelsea is a joke and I hope the team isn't too weakened as it feels like they need some big moments in big semi finals or finals. I had to look, i can't remember the Europa league final team, i can't even recall watching the game. So Rashford was up front, Mata and Mkhitaryan on the wings, Fellaini, Herrera and Pogba in the middle, Valencia right back, Darmian left back, Smalling and Blind centrebacks. Only 3 years yet an entirely different team. We know the first 11 now in a way we never did for 5 years.

 

I wouldn't take Pochettino, Ole has earned his chance. City and Liverpool have raised the bar beyond anyone else in terms of points finishes, but next season if United can be sort of among the top, within 5 points of the leaders by Christmas maybe, and a good Champions League run, that'd be good. A lot of pundits are quite confident Chelsea, with the brilliant signings they've made, will challenge but most are agreeing United have been the most promising watchable team since the return.

Not in the premier league though, so assuming that is in all competitions it helps playing in the Europa League instead of a Champions league (and also getting further in the domestic cups, fair enough!)

In the league 1 less goal but Liverpool's front 3 have played 2248 more minutes.
