An important win, and great to see the front three all score, particularly Rashford who has been very out of sorts in the last few games.

@Stevie - I don't think I jinxed it, In fact I reckon I unjinxed it.  Jinxing it would be if I said "we're definitely going to win" surely?  :D

Is anyone still watching the coverage?  The guy they got in to explain the VAR penalty is talking out of his arse.  So apparently the Premier League has some kind of special rule where if it hits your shoulder it's a handball.  But when Ollie McBurnie scored a last-minute equaliser against us after controlling it with his bicep the explanation was that it counted because anything above the line of the armpit wasn't handball.  So according to this guy, your bicep is above your armpit, and your shoulder is below it.  Not quite as bad as not knowing your arse from your elbow, but it's up there.

It doesn't matter at all, of course, but it does show that the guys each station wheel out to explain the baffling VAR decisions are nothing more than stooges.  I've never seen any of them say anything VAR has decided was wrong, they back the officials no matter how mad the decision.  What is the point of having them on?  I don't care about this decision in particular, but the guys wheeled out to justify terrible VAR decisions have been annoying me all season.

It’s been ugly and humiliating at times but Ole has succeeded in this season’s objective of delivering this club an actual team of eager and willing players for the first time in seven years as well as some football that’s watchable.

Even Pogba looks happy to be here and interested in getting the job done so I don’t see this being yet another false dawn.

It's a two year extension? Doesn't seem too crazy, if it stops him from going elsewhere, given his form I expect there are other teams would would be willing to give him a bumper long-term contract. We will definitely have to be managing his minutes towards the end of it though. Arguably that's already the case - his best recent spells of form have come after extended periods of not playing. I'm a bit worried that if he keeps playing a game every 3-4 days as he has done since the restart, it won't be long until he looks like his legs have gone again. But if he's rotated with McTominay and Fred, particularly as they were both in excellent form before the restart and so they deserve to be playing more than they have been.

I think bringing Fernandes in and Pogba coming back in has helped Matic massively. Obviously the team as a whole has benefitted, but given Pogba now has a lot less of a burden to shoulder creatively, it's had the knock on effect that he can concentrate more on starting moves off from deep and he's also more able to contribute defensively. So Matic's role can become much more reserved, all about covering the gaps at the back, and keeping the ball moving. If he senses the opportunity to do anything a little more spectacular - his volleyed pass against Brighton certainly qualifies - then great. But we really don't need the deepest midfielder to perform an all-action role anymore. Carrick was still good for us well into his thirties in a similarly reserved role.

Unchanged again

Is this a good thing? Not sure we'll get a better change to rest / rotate from now till the end of the season, with the exception of the home leg with LASK. Can't just play the same side constantly every 3-4 days.

We can when we need to win every game and this team is in form. Who on the bench is a better starter? We also had 5 days rest for this game, so it's not an issue.
