@feltmonkey I gave you my view on your manager, you precede to tell me you know better as you are a fan. (pretty delusional and rude) give you reasons why it is a wrong assumption, rather than admit you turned an honest conversation into an argument and you were wrong, you just ignore.

It has become clear that the majority of Rllmuk football fans don't want an honest discussion regarding football in any capacity and would rather snipe at people who try to engage.

The football thread is over there *points at*https://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/311216-football-thread-20192020/ * if you want a general discussion. :P

And further more, how long has it taken Klopp to get liverpool where they are now, literally YEARS!, a year is not that long, and the signings under ole, the way we play, and the youth players are actual improvements, but it cant be done in a season! ...man i wish we had gotten klopp when fergie retired, he was the only person i could see at the time being right, and now look...

@5R7 i came in here to have a reasonable discussion. I gave my honest view, if it differs to others that is fine but to be told my view isn't valid based solely on me not supporting the club in question is just plain wrong and it is delusional aswell as rude. If all of you are happy with Ole that's great as you are fans of the club. I personally may not agree but that doesn't excuse the reaction I have received.

So...you "walk" up to a group of people who are having a discussion, of which they appear to be in general agreement.

Decide to chuck in your opinion and nobody likes it and doesn't agree with you, and then you call the group rude, because they don't agree with you...well... i mean...

In fairness to hercules he is right, being a fan is not a good indication of anything. Let alone a measured appraisal of the club, that's probably why the discussion turned like it did.

This is the United thread though and generally the rules around here are leave the fans threads alone if you're being critical. At least that's how I read it.

@5R7I ask a group of man utd fans their view on the manager, saying I personally don't think he is what you need to get you back to where you want to be. Am told "I am not in as good as a position to judge" because I don't support said club. That is rude and delusional. Because you don't share my view and because I don't support the club doesn't make my view invalid. As I said with that mentality you wouldn't listen to any pundit or journo unless they specifically follow your club.

I thought we could engage with other fans the same you do in pubs. I haven't trolled in any way and just wanted an honest discussion.

The best way to think of if you should get rid of a manager is ask a rival teams fans, if they think you should keep him and you're doing crap, then you want rid, I guess if they tell you to get rid, then the manager MUST be doing something right and they want you to fail, let's stick with Ole, he's doing OK, we're not winning everything under the sun, and he needs to get stuck in, but the team as a whole is going in the right direction, it's just happening slowly.

Is there something wrong? I've never noticed you being like this previously before this week.

You gave your opinion that we should sack our manager. You didn't have anything to back it up. I wouldn't go into another team's thread and tell them their manager should be sacked. I disagreed with you and gave a pretty long, comprehensive list of reasons why I disagreed. You have arbitrarily decided to take huge offence to the pretty mild suggestion that the people who pay the most attention to a subject might be the most qualified to judge that subject. Of course, the thing you're really upset about is that someone might disagree with you. Same as in the main football thread.

You then immediately started insulting me. I was a bit taken aback so clarified my position and hinted that you might be overstepping the line again. You responded by repeating the insult and acting like you are a victim. After several posts containing nothing but repeated insults you started complaining that you only came here for a reasonable discussion. I don't know if you are deliberately trolling, but if not you've somehow accidentally taken the exact path every troll always takes.

Look, if it means so much to you, I'm sorry if you took some kind of insult from what I was saying. I wasn't saying your opinions are invalid or that you're not entitled to think whatever you want to think about our club or football in general.

I'll have a reasonable chat on here anytime with anybody, even dizzog sometimes. I don't expect personal insults.

I usually lean towards giving players a chance but what bothers me most about current United is that it feels like we go into every game as the under dogs, which can't make sense given the club's spending dwarfs nearly every other club it faces. It feels like any cool link up play that results in a goal is a fluke, that any win was some miracle. I don't want Ole replaced, i want nearly the whole team replaced. I think, as I've said many times it comes down to the midfield. It's still true if you win the midfield you win the game. Football has changed over the last few years, we accept less possession is not a bad thing, and we accept that as Liverpool prove you don't need world beating midfielders to be the best team in the world. The no.10 doesn't really exist anymore hence why Ozil has been so peripheral for years, athough Jonathan Wilson was singing the praises of Pereira for his front pressing and tenacity.

There have been individual improvements, good buys. I also really like the idea 5R7 said of Mata being a centre mid for his natural playing ability like Cazorla evolved more into at Arsenal, even if Mata doesn't have the legs anymore. But watching Mata sums it up. Every time i watch him play it's like he was born to do this, he doesn't need to think, doesn't hesitate. It's the natural confidence i miss from the entire team. A 4-4-2 side that just knows how to get it out wide and cross it in will be straightforward and boring but do it with simple gusto. The team is forever caught not knowing what to do with the ball. We all want to see confident football don't we?

I was listening to a 5live podcast today and a player from Leeds was talking about Bielsa. The reason Guardiola reckons Bielsa is the best coach in the world is because he can transmit his ideas anywhere. Not enough has been made of the fact he went to the Championship, didn't speak English, uses a translator, used the same squad as the previous season and transformed them. Well he didn't use the sheer power of his charisma via translator did he. He didn't come in and threaten them to play better. The player said he wants to be as precise as possible so uses the translator. Tbf, maybe the translator is mega charismatic.

That's all i want from United, play confidently. A lot of the football under Ferguson towards the end was rubbish really, but confidence was never something to think about when you looked at the team. They all had won the league multiple times.

A ball playing midfielder who thinks three moves ahead, who is operating on a different level to others. I want lots of them. Pogba, for all his vision and technique, isn't efficient with his dribbling or decision making.

Ole's smiles and language read to me (wrongly, lets face it, this entire prediction will be so far wrong it will be pointless making it) as Pogba will leave but he's confident of a player coming the other way or 1-2 more likely in the window. Ole has the air of someone at ease, either accepting the constant failure to win and miss 4th again or there's optimism somewhere. This team, in this state, relying on Rashford to be possessed every game or Greenwood to convert half chances isn't getting 4th when the play is so disconnected and other chances fall to the midfielders skying the ball way wide from 25 yards.

@spork that's fair enough, I agree Mctominay was a big miss as he has looked your best midfielder this season. Greenwood also has some real class about him (stands out when he plays) I personally don't think solskjaer is ruthless enough or tactically good enough for you but can understand your optimism and wanting to give him more time. Also don't trust your scouting and recruitment for years, Woodward seems to be your biggest problem to me.

Last post from me

@feltmonkey

1. That is not trolling

2. The notion that because you support the club in question better qualifies you to talk about your club isn't correct.

3. You have no idea whether I watch more or less of man utd than you.

4. I said Woodward is a bigger problem than Ole.

5. You have taken offence to a football fan habing a differing opinion to you and you insulted me (you are better qualified to talk about Man utd)

6.you did invalidate my views based solely on me not supporting the club in question.

7. I stated a couple of times that with that attitude sport radio presenters, journos and pundits views are equally invalid unless they support said club. (this was repeatedly ignored)

8. It is evident you don't want a reasonable discussion on here unless it is with a fellow man utd fan that agrees with you.

apparently we are being linked with Gedson Fernandes, who IS a midfielder!?! i know shock! ,but, hes sort of a box to box midfeleder...instead of his team mate Florentino Luís who is a proper DM/DLP...ya know, exactly what we need...

You want a defensive midfielder? Do others want this? I'm happy with McTominay. Matic is slow and I've never cared for him but that makes 2. Fred is more defensive in his play than offensive. Herrera was made to play defensively, Blind the same, Carrick the English Busquets so same. The club hasn't gone wanting for players in that position, i never feel like the defence is in such disarray because it's not shielded. It's the great passing players since Scholes left that hasn't been filled.

I don't want 20 year olds from the Portuguese league tbh, Renato Sanches was highly rated then fell apart at Swansea, after Bayern as well. It's a lottery so judgements don't really matter. Keita and Ndombele had the most impressive highlight reels and performances yet have been slow to show their quality in the premier league.

Eriksen can apparently be bought for £17m this January. I don't think with the talent Real Madrid are finding he's going to land a move there.

João Felix might have been nice? ;)

Lovely, a start for Greenwood! And hopefully some other youngsters.

Do i want a DLP? ya damn right i do! we need an "outball" somebody that sits in front of  the defenders an is always available to recycle and start new moves, thats what we are lacking.

For today then, well, this will be good wont it, might get a lot of running from the front 3 though!
