Its odd, as Fergie would have set up exactly like that against some bigger teams, and hit teams on the counter...the difference, is against the lower teams he would have the team encircling the opposition.

 

The issue with Mata is, whilst being one of the best passers, he isn't physical, and hasn't learnt to adapt his game to playing a deeper role. Look at giggs, played on the wing till 30, then adapted and played another 10 years in central mid! Mata needs to sit deeper and ping balls around or start things off like schoels did in his later years, there is no need to cast him off, IF, he adapts to the needs of the team.

It’s baffling to me that professional players who spend every day playing football together will in a match appear to not remotely be on the same wave length as each other and have no idea what the passer wants or intends you to do. McTominay just then (5 minutes ago now) fired the ball into Martial and i think Rashford then complained when they stared at it whizz past them. 

 

In a way it’s actually more of an achievement. Every day, these guys play with each other, at football as well i mean, not a game of guess who or monopoly. And they know each others names too.

Yeah shame about no more goals but the fluidity of the play really improved. Seeing runs, little chips over the top, first time lay offs. The start was so disjointed in comparison. Pogba’s presence helps settle the players i think. I just read that Fred has the fastest recorded speed of any united player at old trafford this season. :wacko: A sprint he made against Everton.

He's been out for 3 months, he played 45 minutes 2 days ago, we're playing dirty dirty Burnley and we have arsenal in a few days.

 

Or he's injured again.

 

Or he's off to sunny Spain next week.
