I love Mata, but how the hell is he getting a 3 year contract?! The man’s 31! Christ, we really are fucked.

The whole setup is a fucking shambles of the highest order. I’m going to predict it now, with Woodward running the show, we’re going to have a worse squad and worse season than the absolute fucking mess of the one that’s just finished.

Have we signed anyone yet? Only 12 days to go until pre-season and Ole promised we’d have all our business done by then.

Daniel James! Ole unfortunately has to rely on Ed.

Duncan Castles has just reported we've agreed to pay 55million for Wan Bissaka which is a world record for a "specialist" full back.

:omg:

Right, who’s next?

When you consider how much Sanchez has earned while at Man Utd 67k looks reasonable. Plus according to who you ask, Pogba get's between 150k - 350k so I'm going to guess 67k isn't likely unless that number includes loads of bonuses and stuff. :sherlock:

ESPN are reporting that Ole has only been given £100million to spend. Any other funds have to come from selling players. What a fucking joke! :bye:

Pretty sure that came from a pretty unreliable source. Move along here, nothing to see!

Looks like Joao Felix is going to Athletico Madrid, Harry Maguire to Man City, and Matthias De Ligt to PSG. These were all apparently targets for us, and in the case of Felix and De Ligt, would have been exactly what we needed. Meanwhile, we're still failing to sign Wan-Bissaka.

This window is the same as so many recently.

To be fair no one seems to have any idea what's going on with De Ligt. His agent is Raiola who Ferguson hated and Pep refuses to work with. He's a master of getting the most money possible for him and his clients and the one who is seemingly turning this into a big saga and apparently wants him to go to PSG as they are offering the most money.

However De Ligt has stated he wants to play somewhere competitive and singled out the Premier League or La Liga and that play time is very important to him as he wants to carry on developing.

Barcelona, PSG and Madrid are all pretty stacked with defenders so he won't walk into being a first choice at either of those.

Frankie De Jong was also all but confirmed to be joining PSG but then all of a sudden he was confirmed as joining Barcelona.

Until De Ligt is pictured holding up his new clubs shirt I would take any reports with a pinch of salt.

Regarding Maguire, biggest rumours are that we want him but Leicester are holding out for 90 million and that he would prefer to go to City.

It seems that quite a lot hinges on what happens with De Ligt and Rabiot which will hopefully get sorted next week.

But ultimately who knows! Other than Madrid and Bayern there haven't been many completed big signings yet have there? These things take time and don't always get leaked to the press

I guess the other big teams, apart from Madrid and Bayern, aren't in quite the mess we are in.

Wouldn’t it be nice and sensible to have all new signings sorted before pre-season begins so they can have a full pre-season with the club?

Surely this will happen, right? 8 days and counting...

A couple of announcements next week and that will almost have happened

You’ve been saying this for weeks, but it just isn’t happening. Let’s see what happens by this time next week, but I’m not confident we’ll have done anything more than buy Wan Bissaka by then and with that report of Ole only having £100 million to spend looking like the truth, means that’ll be our lot anyway!

I’m so god damn tired of reading the same Wan Bissaka headlines every day (“deal still not reached!”). Ugh just can’t even muster to care anymore about the upcoming season.

From the sound of things it's all done, and possibly may or may not have been done for a little while and that we've been finalising 1 or 2 other players before announcing him. Plus the Euro u21 tournament slowed things down too.

People on Reddit seem to think that what's going on in the press boosts Palace's position with looking for a replacement as as far as other clubs are concerned they don't have an extra 50 million to spend on a new player at the moment. While for us spending 50 million on a young RB who hasn't played in Europe or for England means we are willing to splash the big cash and any other club selling a player to us will then expect us to pay over even more over the odds than they already expect us to.

Of course that may all be rubbish but there is an air of plausibility about it all. Especially when some of the top tier journalists who seem to be briefed about things directly by the club are collectively coming out at the same time to say it's not done yet after a proven "in the knower" on Reddit claims it's done.

I am hyped for the next few days but also ready to be disappointed come the end of this week and nothing has happened. 8-)

Don’t you also think that waiting to sell Pogba and Lukaku before buying anyone else (as has been said in a few gossip articles I’ve read) seems unbelievably stupid? It gives the club who we want to buy anyone from complete knowledge of how much money we have in the transfer kitty and they’ll undoubtedly increase their selling prices. Which then leads to Woodward moaning that all our targets cost too much.

It doesn’t surprise me in the slightest though, with the business acumen of Woodward. It’s like a masterclass in how not to conduct yourself in a transfer window.
