Tell them they have to be as good as De Gea, do as much for the team, win as many points as he has done. Then they can have the same wages. He's been getting mediocre defenders out of trouble for years. Smalling and Jones should pay him their wages.

It’s a weird one for sure, but I honestly think he’d downed tools for the last third of the season and that came across as pretty unprofessional. Was it because of the shit defence in front of him or because he was in a mood that someone as bad as Sanchez was getting paid multiple times as much as him? I don’t know, but bowing to player pressure surely isn’t the right way to go.

I don't believe he downed tools. That's ridiculous. It just doesn't fit with the character of the guy. He made a number of mistakes, but he was obviously just going through a bad run of form, something that happens to every player at points in their career.

I think a few people in here have very short memories. The man is a club legend.

Like I said, I don’t know if that’s the case but it felt a bit like that to me. Hopefully it was just a combination of having a terrible defence, a severe downturn in the form of the team and a blip in his own form, rather than him being a brat about not getting a ridiculous pay rise.

Still, I think £350k is too much for any player really and it only sets a bad precedent for others to ‘lose their form’ if they don’t get it as well.

If you give De Gea 350k a week then you know Pogba will be wanting the same pretty much straight away and then any big new signings will want the same and then players who are currently on 90k will want 200k etc etc. The reason Sanchez is on 350k is because we didn't have to pay a transfer fee for him but a year and a half later that bit doesn't seem to matter anymore.

If he's not going to sign a new contract that would supposedly make him the best paid goal keeper in the world then with one year left on his contract I don't think we have much option that to sell him tbh. We are reportedly interested in Cillesen from Barcelona who is apparently very good and has only not been their number 1 because he is slightly behind Ter Stegen. £25 million for him wouldn't be too bad considering. Alternatively Romero could probably do the job especially if we used the De Gea money wisely to tighten up our defence.

We also have Dean Henderson who has made a big name for himself in the Championship with Sheffield United. Doubt he's quite ready to play for us in the Premier League next season, but a year on loan with Sheffield United in the PL next season would probably be a very good thing for him and if he impresses there he could then come in and be our number 1 for the next 10 years or so.

Silly season is in full flow already, with both Griezmann and De Ligt currently using us to lever more money out of Barcelona.

But where are our signings? The window has been open a week and I don’t think we’ve actually attempted to sign anyone yet. They shouldn’t be messing around with players who obviously want to go to other clubs.

And what about offloading all the dead wood. I get that might be a bit more difficult with nobody insane enough to want them, but I wish they’d actually try to ditch the cunts.

I reckon we’ll be lining up with the same bunch of lazy twats that we finished the season with. That’d be the icing on this shit cake they’ve been feeding us for that last however many seasons.

It's widely reported they've agreed a deal with Swansea to buy their winger, Daniel James. His father died earlier this week which apparently is the reason why it hasn't gone through as United are giving him space.

They've been heavily linked with Sean Longstaff of Newcastle and that one seems more than the usual paper talk.

Barcelona are reported as baulking at the demands of De Ligt's agent demands and Utd are trying to sign him. Personally I think it's the agent using our interest as a way of getting what he wants from Barcelona, but I think the interest of United is real. There's also the fact that he's the best available centre back around and every club in the world wants him so at best we're outsiders.

If the situation drags on for ages and results in us getting nobody, like last year with Varane that was so obviously pie in the sky then that will be unacceptable, but I think it's right they try now as long as they have contingencies. On this front I'd be more confident if it wasn't the investment banker STILL in control of transfer negotiations.

Yeah, I have read some of the reports on who we’re after, but it all seems so blasé. Obviously I’ve no idea what’s going on behind the scenes, but if you compare us to how Dortmund have done their business, it doesn’t look great.

Like you though, I’ve got zero confidence in Woodward securing what we need. He comes across as a worse negotiator than Theresa May. Whatever happened to that DoF we were supposed to be appointing to sort this stuff out?

We are also apparently talking to Wan Bisaka and probably on for Thomas Partey.

Also this century we have apparently only confirmed signings in May twice.

I know I’m being a bit impatient, but it is a worry. Hopefully June will be more productive.

Rumours swirling about that De Ligt is pretty much ours. Either that or we are getting played massively although from the sound of things it's more down to Barcelona not being able to guarantee him a first team spot or being able to match our contract offer.

More rumours that it will be announced very shortly.

:omg:

watching the utd bayern treble charity game...this utd team STILL looks more connected than our current team the way they string passes together!?! it shows just how poor a team we have that a team of 40 years olds play better lol

May

He got a cheer for every pass. Andy Cole didn’t look to well, he only played for a couple of mins.

Was a fun game to be at. The lads with any fitness stood out a mile. Scholes made it look easy. Ivica Olic was a bit handy but had hardly any help.

Still no transfer activity, but I’m hearing endless rumours of players leaving.

Players out:

Pogba

Herrera

Valencia

Young

De Gea

Lukaku

Probably more I’ve forgotten

Players in:

Erm, that lad from Swansea?

Good transfer window this.

If you're going by rumours then the players in section is going to be massive! Wan Bissaka at right back, De Ligt at centre back, Partey and/or Rabiot  in the middle, James on one of the wings. Seem to all be quite possible at the moment.

Other than Barcelona and Bayern, no one else has really made any big transfers yet have they? Also lots of players are away on international duty and the footballing season hasn't actually finished for everyone yet.

Yeah, I’m still being impatient and everything seems to be quite negative at the moment. The problem is, I can see a lot of those players leaving and Woodward totally fucking up bringing anyone we need in, leaving us in a worse position than last year.
