The old Man Utd Thread

Sanchez has to go, as does Lukaku, Bailly, Darmian, Rojo, Smalling, Jones, Young... probably many others too.

Honestly, i've been sat here for the past 5 minutes, gradually getting angrier and angrier at the thought of PHIL JONES and CHRIS SMALLING still being in this fucking team. They haven't been good enough since they first stuck the shirt on. Why they've persisted with these two for so long, god knows.

Totally with you. Not worthy of, my second team, Rochdale, never mind United. I can’t think of a worse defensive pairing we’ve had in living memory.

And let’s fuck Pogba off as well. Yeah, I know he’s talented and the type of player we needs, but his arrogance and disruptive influence pisses me right off. He isn’t the future of this club in my eyes.

Ah yes - I forgot about him. Saying that he has to go right away. First day the window opens, let those players that worship him get used to the fact he's fucked off.

We need to move heaven and earth to sign a van Dijk this summer. We’ve missed a defensive rock, a leader, an attacking threat since Vidic left five years ago. Dunno who that player is, mind.

Can't blame them too much if he was insisting on 200k a week and a contract that will take him to 33 or 34. He would end up being a Young or Valencia that we couldn't shift when he was no longer needed.

It also sounds like his head was turned by PSG money more than anything.

Short term it is a bit rubbish to let him go but longer term I think it will be a good decision. Just need Woodward to replace him well

Milan Skriniar...whether we could get him is another thing...Like how we couldnt get De Ligt who would also be great!

and as herrera is going PSG, maybe we should take Rabiot from psg ...on a free lol

Because they're English and there are quotas of English players you have to meet.  It's why Man City bought Rodwell, if you remember.

Smalling has had decent seasons for us in the past, he's a reasonable backup.  You guys are weirdly angry about Pogba, but he's been our best player this season.  He's got the most goals, the most assists, the most passes, and the most shots.  You've bought into the media narrative that Pogba is the only player that matters at United, so if United have been terrible it must be because Pogba has been terrible.  He is not the cause of our problems.  The main areas to address are the awful defence (Shaw and Lindelof are the only ones really good enough to be Man Utd first teamers, and both just barely) the inconsistent forwards - Lukaku, Martial, Rashford, and Lingard are all players who look great sometimes, the lack of control in the midfield - Matic isn't up to it anymore, Fred never was, Herrera and McTominay have been okay but are grafters rather than the calm head we need to break up attacks and start our own.

We need about eight or nine players, including a world class striker, centre back, and defensive midfielder.  Those are in short supply, frankly.

If we can get £150m+ for Pogba I'd be tempted, as his attitude seems questionable at times (although what do we really know about his genuine personality - there's so much written about him it all starts to contradict each other.  Too much noise, very little signal) but I wouldn't be looking to sell him.

Valencia to play the last 10 minutes as a goodbye.

Smalling & Jones?! God help us.

Could end the match with a back 4 of young, Jones, smalling and Valencia

I think a team of scientists needs to study how its possible to go from 14 wins, two draws and one loss to.......this. What a disgrace :(

The miracle was the upturn in form when OGS arrived, especially against PSG.  Recent results aren't a drop in form - they're a return to form.

genuinely, thank fuck its the end of the season.

They need a proper preseason, a good 5 weeks, drilled into a team.

And, our season will be starting, most likely, around the 25th july...apparently we have a game against spurs that day...
