I think it was odd regardless. Showed how little he believes in both Fred and Sanchez, who would've been better options to bring on given how early it was in the game still. I mean if Lingard was fully fit he would've been starting, right? Not much difference between that and coming on with 70 minutes left to go.

 

Sanchez was alright FWIW - even if most of his work was defensive. He can be counted on in that regard, at least. There were spells where him and Lukaku were very luxurious auxiliary fullbacks, and they did a great job tbf. If Rashford had been taken off I'm sure they would've both been further up the pitch.
