should start at the top imo

Yeah, I’d agree. If you look back to how we started this season it was like a different team. Then after the Liverpool loss (I think that was the turning point), Jose reverted to type. Since then, bar the odd flash of brilliance, it’s been a season of absolute tedium and frustration. I’ve no idea how we finished second in the league. Liverpool won’t be so kind next season, I can guarantee it, and City are absolutely miles away.

Still, it’s better than under Moyes or van Gaal, but I want to see progression.

Dammit.

It wouldn't have made any difference, but it's slightly annoying that the ref booked their keeper for time wasting in injury time but didn't add on any time for it.

Chelsea deserve the win. They were the better team. They got themselves in front when they were on top, and they defended very well in the second half. Their pressing was very impressive throughout.

I used to pop in here and go blah blah and you're getting upset over some little graphics.

1-0, it seems. <

yeah, only player we've been linked too that isnt 29/30!!

seriously, the board needs to put their foot down and say no, we are not signing30 year old players! especially, multiple 30 year old players! sanchez is enough, nobody else that comes in should be older than 26 at most!

I genuinely think mourino doesn't actually know how to COACH players to make them better!

To go back to Fred, we would likely be a good mid player for us!

and, apparently we are unwilling to pay the asking price for Milinkovic-Savic ...but have spent fuck knows how much on that sanchez signing fee, and ridiculous wages (plus appearance fee and bonus, its apparently closer to £500K!?!)

Have you only just figured that out? He manages players, hes not a good coach. He doesn't develope talent he buys it. Maybe in his early career he might have but not now. That's not a bad thing really though cause it's what worked for him and he has the winners medals to prove it.

No they weren't. The mirror picked up on one tweet and ran with it. Pathetic journalism.

Yeah started and shared on twitter by a United fan. I can guarantee you that because of that stupid first petition this is going to happen all season now when we have a bad result cause anyone can set up a petition. Anyone that signs it is either not an LFC fan, very naive or a casual.

A few thousand people from million of fans worldwide isnt representative of a whole fan base is it. Every club has idiot fans including yours, a lot of level headed fans have moved on. No point in crying over spilled milk.

DALOT SIGNED

Mourinho:

“Diogo is an extremely talented young defender with all the qualities to quickly become a great player for this club," he said.

"He has all the attributes that a full-back needs: physicality, tactical intelligence and technical quality, combined with a Porto Academy mentality which prepares players for the maturity they need at the professional level.

“In his age group, he is the best full-back in Europe and we all believe he has a bright future ahead of him at Manchester United.”

I really like the small bit I’ve seen of Dalot for Porto, so I’m hoping he’ll be great for us. He’s very mature for his age.

I think another CB is essential, a high quality player so Jones can piss off asap.

Ahhh I dunno, both him and Smalling are so unreliable sometimes. And Lindelof. We need someone truly consistent I think.

I'm not sure there is such thing as a truly consistent CB anymore because of how the game is played. Even Van Dijk has made fuck ups and he cost £75m.

issue with Jones and Smalling is, you cant rely on either of them not to either make a fuck up. and its not so isolated that you can forgive tem pair of them. Smalling flatters when he doesnt have the ball, but ball at his feet and he's attrocious. Jones spends far too much time injured too. send them pair to Sunderland where they'd be able to play at their level.  There are lots of consistent CB's We've had such shit ones since Vidic and Ferdinand that we think it's the norm. it isnt. im pretty sure its the reason why Mourinho plays such defensive football. he has the entire team set up to protect our fragile defence.

Centre backs can't be as physical as they used to be, but that has never been the most important thing about playing the position.  Reading the game, seeing danger early, and knowing how to deal with it are what playing centre back is all about.  You can't tackle as hard, but then Paulo Maldini said that if he's making a tackle, then something has already gone wrong with his defending.  I don't even think it's about not making mistakes, it's about generally being in control of the situation, in the right position, with the right body shape.  Jones does a lot of things pretty well, but his anticipation is very poor.  He's always having to react to danger when it's already happening.  Smalling will get in position and head stuff away, but he can't play on the deck really.  Bailly and Rojo are competitive battlers back there, but I'm not sure about their reading of the game either.  When he first came to us, Bailly was quick enough to usually be able to get in the right position even if he missed the danger at first, and he is an excellent recovery-tackler.  I don't know what the solution is, there just aren't the great central defenders in the game at the moment.  There's no Ferdinand or Vidic, Nesta or Cannavarno about.  Van Dijk may have cost £75m, but he's not great either.  He's just one of the better ones of a bad bunch.
