But we are still in the draw on Friday...

Sorry guys, Spork was in the Liverpool thread the other day so only returning the favour. I’ll be on my way.

I was only in there pointing out how deluded you guys are pretending that the second best team in the country only lost because they didn't get a penalty :eyebrows:

Glad Lukaku scored because I was checking out Sevilla to win 2-0 at 50/1 but didn't back it. Just went for Sevilla to qualify instead.

United have seen a year on year increase in profits despite spending so much and winning so little since 2013 haven't they ? Why change the galactico approach now, it works. Not on the pitch, obviously. But United aren't about that.

If Mata had played instead of Fellaini, i don't think there's any way United would have lost. But that's not 'play this player not this other one', just..identify the great players, a system that gets the best out of them and has balance, and maybe at least a few will flourish. So what of Mata's weaknesses? Did anyone care when he was Chelsea's best player for two years? I know it was a long time ago now, but then you look at Silva, who is better but different, and see how he's still so important for City despite doing it for so long, despite all their new signings. He basically only doesn't play if he's injured or leaving the country for an extreme personal family matter. No one has any idea what the teamsheet will look like with any game, one after the other. No idea.

Jose now referencing the fact he has knocked us out in the past twice. Seriously, this guy is pushing for a sacking because he knows he isnt up to the task. He's fully aware PSG are looking and he wants to take it. He needs a quick, easy French League title and Cup to stroke that ego of his. Perhaps another 400 mill on new players too.

Thats so odd isnt it. I was just going to ask how do you guys feel about your manager going on about stuff like that or saying

"Liverpool have the Champions League but they don't have the FA Cup."

I mean, yeah sure its nice to be in the FA Cup but is that a compromise? Its ok for Man United to get knocked out the CL because Liverpool aren't in the FA Cup?

Not trying to stir shit up here I'm genuinely curious how that makes you lot feel. I find it bizzare.

It feels very much like deflection. Which seems to be working.

Of course it is, but there are better choice of words. It's like he's having a dig at his own team and the club.

I didn't see the Brighton game, can't find Shaw specific highlights. How was he?

Quote

'Luke, every time they came in his corridor, the cross came in and a dangerous situation was coming. I was not happy with his performance'.

Every player can play bad but when you see, 'Please Mr, take me from the pitch'. That is what I thought."

Jose Mourinho certainly didn't hold back in his assessment of Luke Shaw following the 22-year-old's 45-minute stint against Brighton on Saturday.

Shaw spent the majority of his time on the pitch being berated by his manager from the sidelines before being replaced by Ashley Young.

It was embarrassing for the Englishman, whose future at Manchester United is now in serious doubt amidst rumours he is "upset" by the way Mourinho has treated him.

United's players aren't happy either, so much so that they believe Shaw is actually being "bullied" by Mourinho.

A huge can of worms has now been opened and it remains to be seen whether Shaw will actually play again for United between now and the end of the season.

So what's being done about it? According to the Telegraph, United's hierarchy are 'perturbed' by Mourinho's behaviour and fear Shaw's transfer value will start decreasing.

And now senior members of United's squad are preparing to take action by directly addressing Mourinho to try and come to a solution.

Michael Carrick could well be one of them as club captain, while Antonia Valencia and Nemanja Matic are also leaders in the dressing room.

The report adds that whereas Mourinho slammed Shaw for his performance against Brighton, United's players didn't think he played badly at all.

Seems Shaw has been a made a scapegoat for United and Mourinho's failings, which is very unfair if true.

Not got a the telegraph log in...

The thing with Mourinho is that..it's just football. A game against Brighton. He's a left back. Mourinho talks like he's a commander of troops in trenches and Shaw is the one lad who when everyone else is charging on to the battlefield he's hiding.

Every player can play bad but when you see, 'Please Mr, take me from the pitch'. That is what I thought."

The language of 'Please Mr'. What is that? Imagine any other current top manager saying that about one of their players. I...can't.

It really does look like Mourinho is bullying Shaw, doesn't it?  To be honest, I want Mourinho gone.  He's a shit of a human being, his football is negative, and he's not getting very much out of a squad of very talented players.  Plus, he's driving several of the best ones out.  Shaw had the potential to be a fantastic player, and he probably will still be under Pochettino if he goes to Spurs.  I can also see Martial, Pogba, and Rashford leaving.

This isn't just about Shaw, I didn't like him before he became United manager.  I've tried to give him credit where I could and be positive, but I've never warmed to him.  He can fuck off to PSG - the perfect marriage of wanker club and wanker manager.

To be fair, Mourinho isn't the first manager to criticise Shaw.

Dude, i agree so much. If United were playing like City i could live with him. But we dont and stuff Josè says is just ridiculous or hurtful or just stupid. Shaw hardly played the last 2 years and then put on for 1st half then berated for being rubbish, but Jose hardly played football so he probably doesnt understand "form" or being match sharp or rusty. Shaw lwaving would be a waste, he's only 22 give him another year of consistent playing then if he goes, he goes. If Rashford left thatd be a storm-le-bastille moment for me.

I just don't get the lack of compassion and care for a £30m teenager who suffered a double leg fracture. Just as he comes back from spending a year out recovering Mourinho comes in.

It's not even that Shaw's apparently high wage demands were turned down by Chelsea that would be reason enough for Mourinho to hold a grudge against him, I genuinely think he resents talented players who according to him don't sacrifice their skill for the defensive cause, and it's exacerbated by his lack of talent when he was a player. He's basically expressed these sentiments himself.

He doesn't find joy in creative players expressing themselves.

There always seems to be attacking players keen to leave, why? I thought with Welbeck he must have been really fed up to just be so willing to unattach himself from the club he grew up with. There doesn't seem to be the same affinity to Man United as other top players have with their club. Wilshere for instance refuses to leave Arsenal. A lot of problems there but there's been a real team togetherness in the last 5 years. Pogba's reasons for returning were unconvincing theories about 'unfinished business', when he just wanted the prestige of being the most expensive signing ever and be among the highest paid footballers in the world.

Never hear of the attacking players of Spurs/Man City/Chelsea/Liverpool wanting to leave, except in unique circumstances like Barcelona come calling.
