The old Man Utd Thread

The offside was very close but yeah he did look on. Maybe with VAR the players don't stop when the assistant ref's flag goes up though - hard to say if it would've still been a goal.

That run near the end from Lukaku was fabulous. Good to see him have a game against a "top" team where you can unequivocally say he's had a big impact.

McTominay seems to have solved a lot of problems for us. We haven't really been able to reliably play a three man midfield all season, just because of a lack of available personnel. Matic has started every game I think, or close enough. We do look a bit more balanced now, and he is making less mistakes than you would expect for someone with his limited experience, but obviously there is still a risk to playing him. Credit to Mourinho for taking that risk and recognising that the benefits are worth it.

Maybe overall more a case of Chelsea not being very good than us being great though. Think unless they really improve we don't have to worry about finishing in the top four much.

Palace haven't picked up a point this season without Zaha in the team.

Zaha isn't playing tonight so Palace are guaranteed to come away with at least a draw.

We're going to lack width tonight with two wide forwards who do their best work drifting inside.  Annoying considering the Palace full-backs - a 20-year old making his debut, and a guy who just goes forward and can't defend.  I'd have picked Rashford, despite his ropey form.

...why the fuck have palkace got a single width door for everybody to come through!?! 0_o

and your right! im actually more concerned with schlupp and van anahnhalt both bombing forward and sanchez not defending.

well...

Isn't the stage set for Valencia and Young to stay very high and wide then? Three man midfield, with probably only one of them really bombing forward, should be enough cover for them to do that. I'd expect Lukaku and Lingard to try and run at the fullbacks occasionally too.

yep, fucking shambles!

lindeloff, is terrible! and smalling should have closed that down before it got to benteke!

since sanchez has come in, we have not had a any real balance! he really hasnt added to the team at all, which is ridiculous!

Do you reckon we could still sell Sanchez to city for £60m?  He's a great player, but he just doesn't fit into our team.  In our system, Martial and Rashford are more effective on the left, Lingard has more impact on a game and makes more correct decisions, and Mata is smarter and more creative.  He's also getting in Pogba's way, and the two of them together is one maverick too many.

ya know, id take both pogba and sanchez off right now!

get carrick and rashford on.

maybe even bailey if hes fit enough for lindeloff

Same here, only I'd go with Mata and Rashford rather than Carrick and Rashford.  We've already got too many deep-lying midfielders on.  I'd play Mata in the midfield.  Fuck it, it can't be any worse, right?
