I doubt he'll play as a striker. He might take Lingard's central role behind the striker.

My best bet is still to play in the right though, a positions he's played throughout his career. Wenger himself has said its his best position in the past, although played him centrally and wide left. But then Wenger got to Wenger I guess.

He definitely has not played his best football on the right. For Chile he plays a more free role, like he used to for Udinese. For Barça he generally played on the left. For Arsenal he's played a bit on the right but rarely looked good there. Also a bit at CF but apparently he didn't like it.

Not saying you won't try him on the right or that he'll be a total flop if he does play there, but his best position is clearly on the left.

Well, conversation about his position has started on RedCafe and it seems he's done alright on the right.

He played much more on the right for Barcelona too...

Almost certain he'll take Mata's or Lingard's role within the starting 11. Martial, Lukaku and Sanchez as the front 3 in a 4-3-3 is what I'd like to see.

Yeah I mean I'm just speaking anecdotally obviously, I can't comment on the veracity of that table at all. He is a bit less predictable on the right, I'll give him that. And actually in fairness he did have a nice period on the right when Iwobi was on good form on the left.

He played on the right for Udinese before they tried him up with Di Natale in their 3-5-2 (which was amazing for a while). He mainly played on the right for Barcelona because Iniesta was still getting games out there when he first joined and then Neymar came in a couple of seasons after him.

I think he's played his best football in England from the left but I don't think it really matters that much where exactly you start him - he just needs to be free to attack. People might go for the obvious 'but Mourinho' there but he'll obviously use him as one of his 4 that actually have some freedom.

I'm sort of cynical and jaded about transfers these days. I've seen lots of them go badly wrong in recent years. However, when one like this goes through I still can't help but be really excited. We've signed a terrific player.

We've lost a really good one too, of course. Good luck at Arsenal, Mkhitaryan, I hope everything works out for him there.

As much as I like him, I really hope it doesn’t work out for Mkhitaryan at Arsenal.

He had some amazing games for us last season and I really thought he’d improve from there and become indispensable. Shame it hasn’t worked out, but I’m not sure why. Anyway, here’s hoping he’s another Welbeck for them.

I suppose them both being the same age. Sanchez is obviously the better choice. You know he's got what it takes.

He definitely didn't have us in his mind when this window opened though. Whatever, I'm definitely excited about what he will bring though and I hope we can give the CL a real good go. Next season is title or bust! Especially if we bring another big signing or two.

Apologies for stumbling into the thread, but why is it the BBC always refer to Jose Mourinho in articles as "The Portuguese" ? I know he is from Portugal, but do they need to reference it every time? It is weird.
