Was a beautiful goal. Young always seems so much more comfortable on the left.

 

Not sure it makes sense to play Carrick in midfield, and also a back three. He is great at tucking in between two centrebacks and providing cover. Just seems like overkill against Boro. You could either have him as part of the back three, or protecting a back four. I guess the issue is who would partner Felliani then.

We've suddenly sat back now though.  Rojo on for Mata, so six at the back.  Against Middlesboro.  It's suicide, because even with four centre backs on, none of them have the beating of Negredo or Gestede in the air, so if we sit back and let them lump balls into the box, we will come unstuck.

yeap...that makes that sub look even more fucking stupid. it, could be changed to a four at the back, and just push young and valencia up, but jones needs to go to RB in stead of bailey!

We'd be better off defending by pushing them back and keeping the ball from them. There's ~15 mins left FFS, you don't need to play with your backs to the walls against Boro, when you're two goals up! Air of inevitability about that goal.

If you consider Boro's relatively limited attacking capabilities, asking them to whip balls in against a deep, packed defence is probably a dream for them. If we were pushing higher up and they had to play through pressure, they'd very likely come unstuck. Having said that, their momentum seems to have pretty much gone.
