The old Man Utd Thread

Chaotic end to the half.

Ref books a Bournemouth player twice without sending him off until it's pointed out to him. Mings stamps on Zlatan's head, Zlatan elbows him. Both should be off.

There will be repercussions, for Zlatan certainly, although the FA might decide Mings' one was accidental. It clearly wasn't though.

They should both get done for it. Stamping on someone's head on the floor? Disgusting. And he looks straight at him before he does it as well, no chance that's accidental. Not saying Zlatan's response is ok but pretty tame compared to what it could have been.

Think both Ming's and Zlatan will face retrospective action for that. A mad few minutes. I suppose Surman must have said something to the ref?

Surman was given a second yellow card for pushing Zlatan in the aftermath of the elbow. The reason the red card took ages to appear was that Kevin Friend had forgotten that he had already booked him.

We played 45 minutes against 10 men, and the only chance we created was a dubious penalty.  That's just poor.

When Zlatan and Pogba are bad, they're really bad.  Both were hopeless today, summed up by Pogba taking the ball off Mata's toes in the last minute when Mata was coming in to put the ball in the net.  We should have kept Rooney on, oddly enough - he's been in that situation enough times not to panic and rush things.

Yep, poggers and ibra both awful today. What an exhasperating game! Referee was shocking, felt like a classroom situation where the teacher has no control and the students take the piss. Poor.

Did enjoy seeing José having a go at Mings in the tunnel.

Pogba did make some exasperating decisions. Lost the ball on multiple occasions and released the pressure on Bournemouth. He seems to be adjusting to playing deeper but perhaps not quite fast enough. Also christ, that chance where the ball hits his standing leg.

I think this match was a very good case for video evidence - neither Mings or Ibrahimovic would have done what they did if they knew it could be pulled up instantly and reviewed on the sidelines. As it is, the ref lost control of things because he got the most important decisions wrong, all the players knew it and I'm sure he knew it too. Killed the game as a competitive spectacle basically.

Right, it's understandable, but that doesn't mean it's forgivable. The very long talk the ref gave him suggests he saw it though, presumably thought it was accidental (missing the context of the stamp) and will say as much in the report, meaning he probably won't get a ban. I'd rather they both got banned than nothing happen at all tbh, would draw a line under it.

the thing is, zlatan wouldnt have done it, if mings had been sent off like he should, and thats what pisses me off more about the impending 3 match ban he will get.

Yeah in football you should be allowed a free hit by the referee if you feel you've been wronged by another player, that wouldn't end in a bloodbath or anything.

didnt say that did i...nope...said hes ,most likely, getting banned for reacting to being kicked in the head, because the ref has been abysmal.

actually, in general we were pretty poor, but still.

We can kiss the FA Cup bye-bye.

We'll be faster as Zlatan slows our attack down. That last game you could see there was chances to break, but we didn't because of Zlatan. We'll be faster with the likes of Rashford and Lingard.
