The old Man Utd Thread

From the highlights that was a very fast paced entertaining 1-1. 6 points from an available 15 in the last 5 games isn't good. 5 goals scored in 5 games. Liverpool scored 14 in the last 5. They have scored 14 goals more for the season. Crystal Palace have scored more goals than Man United. Already 11 behind the leaders, 8 behind 4th spot. Though i do think it's silly how pundits can right off a team when they point to points with more half the season left. The top 4 will compete for the title until the end I think. The top 4 all nearly have double the amount of goals scored as the rest of the league's teams. This is definitely the most entertaining United have been, more so than the Van Gaal and Moyes seasons, but...i can't be bothered with football. I don't think Mourinho has that same magnetism to create that close bond with players, form that siege mentality, us against the world. It's not there. Individually the players can be neat, and the collective play recently has been nice...what's missing ? So many missed chances, the result of a game is easier to predict than the starting lineup. Back to players being in and out of the team...any other club it doesn't mean anything. With United it does. Establish a starting place, feel settled, less selfish, less desperation, or take it for granted and try less. I'd like to read some analysis of United's tactical failings that don't send me to sleep. How do people continue to care about their football club as they get older ? I can barely be arsed looking at the screen for highlights, how do they drive all the way to the games for them, without just staring through everything like it doesn't register because it means nothing.

I thought the best feature of the game was the understanding Valencia and Mkhitaryan seem to be building. They played some very intricate stuff together. Hope to see Henrikh and Carrick starting in the league more often. I'm also wondering if Mourinho is genuinely considering bringing Schweinstieger back into the fold.

So many positives from the last few games. Rooney looks useful again. Jones isn't dead. Rojo not being shit. Martial looking a bit cocky again.

We we're terrific tonight. Four really good goals, lots of good football. Miki looking like a fantastic player, Valencia continuing his good form, Zlatan Imperious, Martial back amongst the goals. Lovely.

We've looked good for a few weeks, despite the mixed results. Basically we've had four of those freak matches you get in Football Manager where you have 20 shots to their 2 and draw 1-1. The draws against Stoke, Burnley, West Ham and arguably Arsenal were all notable for extraordinary performances by the opposition goalkeepers. If we'd won those four games, our season would look completely different.

In terms of performances, we are coming into some great form at the moment, and playing good attacking football. Look at that move at the weekend that ended with Lingard nearly scoring. We're better than we were under LVG.

This, deffo this! it really is, tom heaton will never play a game as good as that! same for the rest! well, maybe cech. But yeah, we have started to find form and rhythm ,and if we keep making the chances, they will go in. B t the performances have really started to go! #

the only concern tho, is that pretty much all of it has been centred around having carrickl back in the team! as he provides the balance required to let the play go forward! .... im almost hoping he might be trying to get Basti back in, but, i still think he (basti) wants to go forward to much. We need to find someone, or develop,  who WANTS to sit in front of the back four!
