christ this is poor...worst performance so far...its a contender!

and smalling has been culpable for all three...

an he should have done better for that fourth.

this is down to mourinio, looking quite frankly, tactically inept!

Yep. We just look pedestrian and Chelsea seem to have twice as many players on the pitch as us. Pogba has been a complete waste of money so far. He's worse than Fellaini!

the "pogba problem" is that he hasnt been played in the same way he played at juve, which was alongside pirlo and vidal for a large portion, so a deep lying player, we have carrick, and sombody more box to box, well, he have herrera. then there needs to be some width and a striker to play off. zlatan is still  a great player, but, there needs to be more decision about when to play him, i mean we looked better against ferebache, becasue we had players in the right place!

there really needs to be a look at getting some combo of martial , rashford, memphis and lingard on the front three roles, yes i know memphis is a confidence player, but play him a few games and he will come good. and shaw needs to be back at left back asap, and bizarly, blind back at CB, ideally with bailey, who looks like a better smalling. plus, memphis and shaw looked great when they clicked last season then shaw  got injured, which seemed to really affect memphis.

but THAT totday, was fucking abysmal!

What the fuck has become of our club? A result like today's has been coming. Either the Liverpool or City games could have ended with a similar scoreline.

We look further away from getting back to the top than ever. We won't qualify for the Champions League because even to get fourth would require us to finish above two of Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Spurs. They're all better teams than us.

This defeat looks disastrous and kinda is, but when you play at Anfield on Monday and Stamford Bridge on Sunday and have to fit a midweek European tie between the two, a win, a draw and a defeat is par for the course. Unfortunately, the win came in the competition no one at the club cares about...

Oh well, it's only City up next on Wednesday.

Got the impression Chelsea's players would like to get Jose sacked again.

I think Blind would be my first choice in about three positions right now. He's a better centre back than Smalling, he's a better left back than Shaw (pace aside) and he's probably the best deep lying midfielder we have too. I wish we just had good options in all those positions really. It's almost understandable that Mourinho has been playing Pogba in a two, except he is the one who has decided Schweinsteiger is surplus to requirements and Carrick is only fit for bench duty, so it's bizarre that he didn't try to bring in a replacement.

lets ask then, do we have a consensus on what a first choice 11 would be at this point? id probably look at this for the moment ...Capture.JPG

BUT, id happily swap martial for zlatan, and bring sombody else in on the left wing, in order to get pace across the front three positions. of course, the problem with this is it dosent leave room for mata, unless puting him on the right, but he dosnt stay there...but, it would get more out of pogba...i think

Yeah, I'd probably go with the same team at the moment.  I'd be tempted to try and get Rashford in there somewhere, and I'd choose some different subs.  Fellaini for Schneiderlin and Rooney for Memphis probably.  For all those two players' flaws, they do give you a different option from the bench.  I think we need to have another look at Mkhitarian as well.

I'd probably go with this.

         Zlatan
  Rashford Mata

     Pogba Herrera
         Blind

Shaw Darmian
     Bailly Smalling

         De Gea

Maybe give Rashford a chance up top and bring Martial in on the left. Mkhitaryan must be given opportunities on the right too. Lingard has done well this season I think too.

Yeah, Smalling just got destroyed. But I think with a more defensive-minded right back and actual protection from the midfield (Herrera and Fellaini have put in good performances there but we need a specialist in that position) he would be less exposed. It sounds like Bailly is injured anyway, so it's probably going to be Blind and Smalling at the back until he's fit again. Maybe Carrick or Schneiderlin could deputise for Blind in the meantime, but the latter isn't of an age where we can rely on him anymore, and Schneiderlin is the latest in a long list of purchases (Depay, Kagawa, Schweinsteiger, I'm probably forgetting a few) that seen to have been made with no long-term plan in mind. So strange to have such an obviously talented player barely featuring at all.

                        Rashford

           Martial                    Mata

                       Mikitaryan

              Pogba            Herrera

 Shaw        Blind        Smalling       Valencia

                        De Gea

This is the first eleven I would go with.

Can people keep me updated on this please? I'm on my way home from work and won't get back until the second half, but I'd love to know how we're getting on.

I think it's some kind of morbid fascination.
