The old Man Utd Thread

We need more from Pogba. Zlatan has not had his best game either.

I'm pleased we haven't been outfought, and there have been some immense individual performances from the back four and Herrera.

We're really looking like we're going to concede before the end though. We're clinging on. Rooney needs to track Milner better. There's no excuse.

herrea was brilliant, that was about it...

I don't think that's fair. Valencia and Bailly were very good as well. Valencia more defensively than going forward, which is a good sign in itself, in a way. De Gea was also great, two really good saves.

Considering the opposition, the fact that we were away from home, and the relative form of the two teams, such a battling performance and result isn't a bad thing. We weren't going to be able to batter them off the park. We did create the best chance of the match, too.

I don't think "it wasn't a very good game" should be the whole story.

Fair result, game of two halves. Most of the outfield players did really well, thought Rashford, Pogba and Ibrahimovic were poor though.

We needed to be a little more decisive with our final ball, but you could tell the players were very reluctant to give the ball away by playing a risky pass.

Couple of wonder saves from Dave though.

Very disciplined performance from United, especially after the shambles of that opening v City. Felt good to see us keep a shape and defensive mentality throughout. If a team sets out to park the bus, the onus is on the home side to break it down, as we saw often at OT during the Ferguson era. Bar a couple of De Gea saves Liverpool didn't do that much. Terrible match to watch but very happy with the point.

Felt like a late Fergie Anfield performance. Contained them for the most part but too risk averse and never really attacked with conviction.

If we genuinely are title contenders we can't play for a draw again at the bridge this weekend.

talk online of how good herrera was, one aper claiming he could be captain material...if he carries on like that, well, maybe!

its odds that he came as a sort of flamboyant attacking playmaker...yet looks more at home in a more battling/ slash box to box role, hell, if he gets played every week, and plays like that, then there may even start to be keane comparisons ...and earnt keane comparisons!

in fact, calling it now, at some point in the future, a pundit will compare herrera to keane lol

People saying we need to be more decisive with crosses, but we had 3 cracking balls in that weren't taken advantage of. Rashfords drill along the 6 yard box, Pogba's inch perfect cross which Ibra headed back across goal for the ghost of Utd past to score and Youngs cross to the back post which Karius flapped at and Ibra gave them a get out of jail free card by nudging Lovren in the back.

Ibra's worst day in a Utd shirt I feel. The back 4 and Herrera were outstanding I thought, even if I'd rather see Blind instead of Smalling and Shaw back on the left.

looking good, but lacking penetration...disapointed herrera didnt start, but guess hes saving him for sunday! in fact, could be a similar team to monday on sunday!

but looking good, could see us getting a couple more here!

Why was there a different taker for the second one?  That's a bit odd.  Great pens though.

Martial won the penalty ? It's got to be harder anyway for a player to score a penalty, putting the ball one side of the goalie, then minutes later asked to score again, the keeper and player in mind of where he'd already just put it.

That was a lovely moment, wasn't it?  RVP scores, and the whole stadium applauds and sings his name.

Incidentally, Memphis has put in a nice little cameo performance here.  He's done some nice stuff.

Except for that crap pass into the penalty area.
