The old Man Utd Thread

Oh, it's nothing concrete. I'd just read that his agent had cancelled his medical in Miami, then Zidane had said they still might bid for him. It just all seemed a bit fishy.

Dare I say it, we might get this one over the line. Noticed quite a few of the club's official partners and staff starting to follow Pogba on Instragram/Twitter. Not to mention lots of noise coming out of Italy with uniform information that the deal is 'close'.

We'll see I guess. Also, not a fan of the new home kit, much prefer the new third shirt.

What does this mean, I'm confused!

No idea. Apparently is some promotional material for their biggest clubs. So Bayern, United, Real & Juve etc all have something similar. Its about not talking in the papers and doing the talking on the pitch or something to that effect.

Weirdly though. Pogba doesn't feature in the Juventus clip, but does in the Man Utd one?!

Somewhat surprised that Schweinsteiger seems set to leave. He's still a decent midfielder but more than that he's a winner and a massive character, we need more guys like him to bring back a swagger and a winning mentality. I suppose ultimately he's paying the price for being associated with LvG.

I think the problem is his huge wages, and the fact that he didn't play a lot last year.  There are also rumours of discontent at the supposed preferential treatment he got last season, being allowed to travel home to Germany a lot (including Octoberfest.)  Like you, if it was down to me, I'd keep him.  I like him as a player, and it's noticable that his best performances came when we were up against it.  As you say, he's a winner.

This stuff in the news about these nine players that are to be moved on, including Fosu-Mensah, Borthwick-Jackson and Pereira... that has to be bullshit right? Those three all look to me like they've got what it takes to be first team regulars in the future, I can't understand why we'd sell them?

Edit: I've done some googling...

Fosu-Mensah

Quote

"Fosu-Mensah is not so much injured," Mourinho told MUTV. "But he has this little thing that we want to be careful with given that he is young. He is separate from the group until he is 100 per cent back."

Borthwick-Jackson

Quote

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson was not included in Jose Mourinho 's Manchester United pre-season tour squad due to a groin strain.

M.E.N. Sport understands Borthwick-Jackson is expected to return to fitness at the end of next week, so the left-back could be in contention to face Everton in Wayne Rooney 's testimonial on August 3 or Leicester in the Community Shield on August 7.

Aye, yesterday the Mail were saying that Tim was definitely out the door, then today the same guy was saying that he was being given a new contract to ward off interest from elsewhere. He'll be president for life by Wednesday at this rate.

I think Pereira's supposed to be off on loan rather than sold. Apparently he really wanted to go on loan last year but LVG told him to stick around and then never played him.

I think the players who are going out on loan are being lumped in with the ones who are being genuinely transfer-listed. Januzaj has been on that list too. At least I hope that's what's happening. Those guys getting the boot does fit with what we know about Mourinho and his mistrust of young players.
