The old Man Utd Thread

This has been the worst half of football I've seen. Such little quality on display.

I think this comment has been made about pretty much every match this season. Can someone change the thread title to include it?!

How have we won that?

Aye. Liverpool played well and looked like they had 15 players, their energy was really good but carving out the great chances was minimal. De Gea outstanding when called upon once again.

It was a shit game though.

Jones, Carrick and Rojo in the away end all looked like they enjoyed themselves.

I think Borthwick Jackson should be starting if Rojo or Shaw aren't available. He looked good, particularly in attack. Darmien is a little more defensive so we need that balance on the other side, plus he looks much more natural at right back. Van Gaal's subs were a bit frustrating, he seems to take one attacking player off and put another on, rather than actually changing shape or emphasis. Herrera and Lingard were both having decent games, why hook them instead of Fellaini / Schneiderlin?

@tbb That's four in four for Van Gaal now.

It's lucky that the rest of the 'top teams' have been so bad as well. It'd be interesting to see how many points everybody had at this point of the season last year, the year before, etc. to make a comparison. Is that info available anywhere?

I just hope our board don't deem it good enough if we do manage to squeeze into the top four, because next season surely things are going to be more difficult. Unless we go all guns blazing for Pep, I imagine he'll be at City. Klopp will no doubt bring in reinforcements for Liverpool. Abramovich will throw money at Chelsea. Whereas I can only see LvG plodding on with his insipid style.

Klopp is still subject to the dreaded transfer committee at Liverpool, so I wouldn't necessarily expect our reinforcements to be much good ( :P ... :( )

Martial is really wasted in this United side. When he does burst into a little bit of space, he's usually got two banks of defenders to get past. So few balls played in behind.

Unfortunate that Januzaj has given away the free kick that leads to the goal for his first bit of action. If we were having any joy in attack though, these little mistakes wouldn't be so damaging. I feel like we're as bad as we were under Moyes right now, and the only reason we're still fifth is because other teams at the top are also having a poor season. Imagine if Liverpool, Everton or West Ham were playing at all consistently, we'd be miles off the top four.
