Really? Anyway, the second half has probably been as you would expect for a team with a 3-0 lead - they started dropping deep from about 30 minutes in and you've been knocking on the door. The shocking start has cost you dear.

Bit of a nothing second-half. Arsenal eased off, we still created fuck all, but had more of the ball. Bad day at the office for us, especially in that 20 minute period where it was like a game of FIFA or something with everything going in.

Should've been 5-0, Giroud and Oxlade Chamberlain had glorious chances on the break in the second half. Was over as a contest inside 20 minutes, just playing for pride for the rest of the game, no luck there either. Martial's the only one of our players who gave them any trouble at all.

Completely the wrong selection from Van Gaal. He has to drop Rooney at some point, and the Carrick / Schweinstiger pairing doesn't look right for big games like this.

No wing-play in the first half, coupled with slow and bulky players and an attack that didn't seem to know where it wanted to be. There were two clear chances to score, could easily have been 6-0 or 6-2. Second half we at least tried to have a go but Cech was awake somehow and is perhaps Arsenal's best signing aside from Sanchez. Sick of Van Gaal's tactics with Depay constantly getting game-time when he isn't being played properly, or maybe he just isn't cut out for it. Fuck all support for the strikers, Rooney dropping to defence at times shows how little the players know of what they should be doing.

Let's be honest, we were fucking terrible. No pace, no imagination, no thrust. Away in freezing Moscow I can forgive, but this has been the case all season. We have players like Memphis, Young, Martial who have real pace and can beat a man but they're being neutered.

Memphis was awful when he came on, but i get your point. At one point I thought my TV had frozen, Fellaini put his foot on the ball and stopped still, then not a single one of our players moved, they all just stood about like statues.

I don't think their being neutered, they just don't seem to want to do it. (Martial excluded) Towards the end of the game last night a ball went in the direction of Memphis, he didn't even try to get it even though he would have been favourite. He would have been free to have a run at the defence for one last attack if he had have made an effort. He in particular has shown a lack of desire and fight.

Rooney was completely ineffectual again, Herrera made him look good again against Everton, but Herrera wasn't able to influence as much last night. Lingard did alright, but Mata should have been in there, probably just getting a rest before City but it shows how much we need him last night.

That CSKA team are not good. Before the game I would have taken the draw, after how the game played out I was happy with a draw. But upon reflection on how they played, we should have been winning that game. We have lost all cutting edge in the final third and it is annoying to watch. We may be able to turn it on once or twice a game, or if we are comfortably on top, and that may be enough most of the time. But we aren't going to win anything playing like this.

For once, I'm confident "enough" in the defence. Shaw and Darmian were missed last night, and Jones was an absolute idiot for not following in on the penalty, but I have confidence enough in the defence, we just need to find some sort of creativity to pull it all together. It's obviously not easy as we have signed Di Maria and Memphis with that hope to provide it, Di Maria didn't work out and Memphis is looking to go the same way.

Does this not explain the netured comment? From what I have heard about LvGs methods only certain people are allowed to be 'risky' at certain times. I think at 1-1 in a game LvG had described as one we couldnt lose I think the managers desire was to be safe and hold the ball therefore Memphis didnt try to get it and go forward because that was risky.Same as in the dying seconds we had the ball on the right wing deep inside their half and yet due to 'safe' passing ended up back with Jones or Smalling.

I'm really frustrated that Martial is getting pushed out to the left by Rooney. What has Rooney shown as a striker this season, compared to Martial, to justify that?

In fact, what has Rooney contributed so far this season, full stop, would be the more pressing question. Tired of his undroppable status in the face of nothing performances week after week.
