Is this the first time we've ever been top since we won the title with Fergie? Not getting carried away obviously but still...been a hell of a long time coming :omg:

First half was poor, second was very comfortable. Martial continues to look the business despite not scoring today.

Top huh? Is this the first time since we won the league in May 2013? Good result today. Should probably have had a few more goals, but you can't moan at winning 3-0. Memphis and Martial looking like theit next few years together could be quite something to watch

And after all that was written about our early season struggles, we've now scored 3 goals in each of our last four domestic games (including Ipswich) and have the joint best goal difference in the league.

All this of course is since St Martial came aboard.

Bebe can do this, apparently. What on earth?

Rooney knew very little about his goal, it was all Martial. He's given us something completely different since he came in. While he is fit I don't expect Rooney will get a look in playing as centre forward. Most likely he will slowly come deeper and deeper and eventually look more like an attacking midfielder. He could also play on the left and come inside, or try to affect the play from deep, but that's basically what Mata is already doing on the other side (to outstanding effect, I might add) and would make us quite narrow. Could possibly be a good plan B if we still had Januzaj to play on the other side though.

Good to see that the manager seems to be doing everything he can to keep the partnership of Blind and Smalling together. First he preferred Rojo out on the left, now he has moved Darmian out there (I only saw the highlights but he looked pretty natural) and brought Valencia in on the other side. They complement each other so well, and Daley gets on the ball a lot more playing in the middle.

Hasn't Chris (Mike) Smalling improved quite a bit. To think when he was sent off in the derby and fingers were pointed, (mine included) saying he's not good enough to wear the shirt.... Nice of him to prove me wrong ^_^

Also it was nice to see Andreas Pereira play and even be given free kick responsibility near the end of the game, clearly highly regarded

Smalling has been a revelation this season. I honestly thought he was never going to fulfil his potential but he has really stepped up to the point that I was seriously worried when he jarred his knee in the second half. The thought of Blind and Jones in the centre of defence doesn't fill me with confidence. Still think it's an area we need to look at in January.

Not sure Schweinsteiger is going to play 90 minutes many times this season. I know Owen Hargreaves was saying he should have been left on but it looked like he was about to have a heart attack.

That Mata flick for the Smalling goal

Hargreaves is a fucking tool. I disagreed with about 95% of what he said last night. Continuing to go on about keeping Schweinsteiger on when he was obviously flagging was just him blow smoke up his mates ass. The worst thing about last night was not the terrible defending that led to their goal but having to endure 90 mins of his bullshit droning on in that ridiculous accent. He makes Michael Owen look like the best orator in the world!

Blind was fairly anonymous last night, apart from his flapping about for their goal. Rooney was shite in all areas of the game last night, he isn't warranting his place in the team at the minute, I'd much rather have Herrera in there. Valencia looked a shadow of his full back self from last year, Young did much better when he came on. Memphis, while not having much final product last night, at least looked like he wanted to attack. Other than that, I was happy enough with the rest of the performance.

We're playing Arsenal, this isn't supposed to happen! Valencia as a makeshift right back > Young as a makeshift left back, apparently. Also Rooney has been completely useless in the build up, it's suicide to have a player in that central role who you can't rely on to keep the ball.

Think Valencia should come on for Rooney or Depay. Can't let this get any worse.

He has a noticeably worse passing range than either Carrick or Schweinsteiger, and has come off during games when we've been lacking ideas to good effect. Not to say he's an unthinking destroyer, he just isn't a specialist passer. However it would've probably been a good idea for him to start this game, away at a ground where we'd probably take a draw most days, with an unorthodox defence that clearly needs protection. But it's not like you could've known Arsenal would come out of the blocks like this without the benefit of hindsight.

Horrible half of football from us, probably lucky not to be five down given the ease of which Arsenal are walking through our defence.

Paying the price for being tactically arrogant, need the midfield three in a game like this, especially against a team that moves the ball quickly and will look to use the counter.

Fellaini and Valencia both warming up at half-time...
