Rock Band!

There's more than one Rock Band thread?

And I'm not sure I see the appeal of a wireless kick pedal (if indeed it is) - it's got to be where the drums are anyway, and it's another thing to run out of batteries. I reckon it's more likely that the cable just isn't in shot.

It looks identical to the RB2 pedal?

Ah, maybe it is. I only ever had the original drum kit and I managed to snap two of the pedals and I know murray managed the same too, I remember his adventures in repairing it in the early days of this thread.

Lego rock band had the more accessible track list by far. I hope they do something similar for rb4 and don't keep it too rocky. I always found it hard to find songs the women wanted to sing.

I can't speak for the Lego one because I never bought it but the accessibility to non-rockers piece is something that the Customs scene seems to address nicely at times. Last week they put up 'Like A Prayer' by Madonna, a Sade tune and a Macy Gray tune too. The only game my missus has ever played with me for any length of time was Beatles RB. And it was lovely.

Once again I vote to get The Kinks into Rock Band. And Elastica. And Kenickie. And Mclusky. And the Manics. And Pulp. And various other great bands that never really broke America.

Once again, doubtlessly, I vote in vain.

3 pack of The Kinks today from c3 custom creators.

Yep, and also means you can't adjust the volume of vocals*, and of course don't get any of the overdrive sound effects. It's hardly a deal breaker, and I'm not going to let it stop me getting them, but it's a bit of a shame. Understandable, and not unusual, but still a shame.

*unless they've listed it as a 'karaoke' track

Without a multi-track, it's like tapping along to a beat, instead of being the reason for that beat. I know that sounds silly given I'm just playing along to a pre-written chart, but it's all about the feeling.

It's a dealbreaker for me - I simply don't find them fun to play.

I was already playing guitar (just as a hobby thing to pass the time, not band stuff or anything) before the whole GH/RB thing happened, but playing songs in the games occasionally inspires me to try them out for reals - even before Pro Guitar was a thing I'd listen to the chords and melodies of the songs and sometimes try playing them. :)

The FREE DLC track - Frank Turner's "I Still Believe" - is available now (at least on the 360).

Did I mention that it's FREE?

It's still Frank Turner though. And Frank Turner is A Cunt.

All this new hype and excitement is a bit bittersweet for me really - obviously I'm pleased there's going to be a Rock Band 4 and I hope the series takes off again, but I don't have an Xbox One or PS4 so I won't actually be able to join in this time around.

'The Announcement' inspired me to dig all the stuff out of the loft and set up the PS3.

What a wonderful couple of hours I've just had. I'm shit now obviously, but there really is no game that makes me feel so fucking good.

Every Friday night from now on. It's been too long, my sweet.

Bah. Bought my son Green Day: Rock Band recently and when we try to export the songs for use in RB3 it just keeps saying 'unable to establish connection to Green Day: Rock Band game servers'. Guess they don't maintain these any more?

I was disappointed to find that the Beatles leaderboards appear to have been discontinued too.

If it's any consolation they did eventually release all the Green Day songs on the RB3 store as standalones. You'll have to pay for them again obviously but it means you'll get them in RB3 if you really want them - might not be too bad if you only want a handful of favourites.

I had a go on Rock Band Blitz last night, for the first time in I don't know how long. I still don't really like it. I think there's an over-reliance on knowing which powerup combinations to choose before starting the song.

Feels to me like they sort of painted themselves into a corner when they decided to design for just two buttons - like they had to go down the powerup route to put complexity back into the game.

I did buy some DLC while I was in there, though. Weezer's 'Back to the Shack'.* I had an email the other day telling me that I had about £1.50 worth of credit in my Microsoft account that was going to expire soon, so I thought I might as well spend it on a song I like.

*I fucking love Weezer.
