Rock Band!

Oh, surprise surprise, most of the songs are locked again, even in quickplay, until you go through the career. :( Wouldn't be so bad but the absence of a straight career (RB1) or a challenge mode (RB2) means you're playing the same songs over and over again until you get enough stars 'n' shit.

*slow clap*

Aside from that, it's quite good. Guitar doesn't 'feel' like guitar 'cos you're using two hands for chords and things, but drumming is quite satisfying. It's obviously abstract but they've put some thought into it.

Nope, you just have to go into Extras, Modify Game and it'll let you enable all songs.

Personally I find it extremely easy (but that's just because I'm a complete DJMAX addict) so I'm just kicking about in the warmup mode (where you can just play a single instrument) but even that's pissing me off because I'd quite like to be playing the drum track for an entire song without being thrown into GUITAR SOLO \m/ (most of the Guitar Solos aren't even bloody solos for christ sake)

EDIT : Infact the one thing that I would have wanted from this game would have maybe been a 5 button difficulty (done in the same style of DJMAX) for all the instruments... or even maybe just the drums. I love how in certain DJMAX songs on the 5 button difficulty the right key and square key both act for the middle lane, which is where all the drumkicks come up in most songs. 4 buttons just seems a bit too easy.

It's a bit of a funny one. I'm really enjoying it because it suits my ADD gaming style that I have these days, but the hard bits are hard because there the same alternating notes for 4 bars and I just lose it. The bits that have 'chords's and up and down bits give me massive satisfaction. The Middle is the biggest culprit for repeating rhythm I've come across so far.

In the USA they just released the Classic Rock Track Pack ($29.99), compiled from previously available DLC, with with the following tracks:

Boston: "Peace of Mind" (1976)

Boston: "Rock and Roll Band" (1976)

Dead Kennedys: "California Über Alles" (1987)

Dead Kennedys: "Holiday in Cambodia" (1987)

Free: "All Right Now" (1970)

George Thorogood & the Destroyers: "Bad to the Bone" (1982)

James Gang: "Funk #49" (1970)

Jethro Tull: "Hymn 43" (1971)

Lenny Kravitz: "Let Love Rule" (1989)

Pat Benatar: "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" (1980)

The Police: "Can't Stand Losing You" (1978)

The Police: "Truth Hits Everybody" (1978)

Rush: "Closer to the Heart" (1977)

Rush: "Red Barchetta" (1981

Siouxsie and The Banshees: "Kiss Them For Me" (1991)

Steve Miller Band: "Take the Money and Run" (1976)

Steve Miller Band: "The Joker" (1973)

The Stone Roses: "Love Spreads" (1994)

The Who: "Baba O'Riley" (1971)

The Who: "Behind Blue Eyes" (1971)

This is the first Track Pack to include the full Rock Band 2 game (the previous track packs were based on RB1) and also includes 12 new acheivements/trophies (most of which are based on doing well on particular song, e.g. "Some People Call Me Maurice" for getting 5 stars on "The Joker"). Presumably the achievements/trophies only work if you play the track pack disk, rather than just playing the songs through RB2. As with previous track packs, you get a code that allows you do DL the songs to play in RB1/2.

Dunno if this is coming out in the UK, but its pretty good value if you don't already have those songs as DLC.

As I buy up any tracks I want at point of release, these compilation track packs aren't so interesting to me. I /am/ jealous of the fact buyers get achievements to aim for, though

Any PS3 players fancy a little online session later? I can sing in your World Tour band, we can do Challenges, Battle of the Bands, whatever you like...

I just saw this post, and I would've, but I am absolutely knackered. Shall we get a bank holiday thing going? In the evening, like...or even Sunday

Also: Yay for Zombies! I got a 'best of' last year and that stuff is fucking smoking.

At last! I'v been waiting for some Ministry stuff for ages. The fact that it's Ministry Pack 1 means there will be more to follow as well...

Not saying that there won't be more Ministry songs, but all the packs are called 'xxx Pack 01'

Anyways, got my first 100% on drums tonight. Only on hard - Take It On the Run - but it's the small victories, eh?

First for me last night, 100% on hard She Sells Sanctuary. I was so proud.

I played the damn game for about four and a half hours last night, all on drums. Best exercise ever!

Damn, I was thinking that RB Unplugged was a crazy awesome acoustic Rock Band but apparently it's just RB PSP. Booooooooo!

given how badly acoustic strumming parts translate to Rock Band guitar controllers, i can't share your enthusiasm there...

...and there was me getting my hopes up! I'v been itching for some Ministry since the first guitar hero, so I'm chuffed to see them included this week (even if it isn't my first choice of songs). Bonus points if they managed to include any songs from "With Sympathy" or "Twitch" (over Al's dead body!).

I think I'm done with Rockband now - I'm feeling more inclined to go back and clean up on GH2/3/WT than to continue buying DLC for Rockband2 where I feel I'm simply going through the motions.

I guess they're more "gamey".

Here's a vid of a Rock Band competition Ryanski and I entered last summer (the one we bombed out of in spectacular fashion, if I do say so myself).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9swsb9jESDk...re=channel_page

We first appear at 2:10 or so, where you can just catch me deciding to turn away from the screen for fun, whilst at 3:30 you can get a nice shot of Ryan topless. Ah, such a good night, that.

dunno if anyone else has noticed in RB:Unplugged how Harmonix have predictably removed all the f words from the Tenacious D track yet left the line:

All we're askin' you to do is drop trou and squeeze out

a Cleveland Steamer on my chest.

...in all its glory.

;)

I don't have a PS3 but I am interested if people play online generally; I was going to bump the thread in Online to find out who plays, but that thread didn't really see much action after being posted. I was even going to suggest some kind of RllmukRock group gamertag for fans of all online-enabled GH and RB games...but apart from regular games with a couple of good friends I haven't played many games with forumites...

EDIT: oh and I only play guitar. Not interested in any other instruments. ;)
