Squigs
The 360 Band In A Box comes with a hub but as far as I am aware the PS3 version doesn't. This is because at the time it was being developed, PS3s had four USB ports. You're right, no hub with the PS3 one. You need to buy your own unfortunately. You need to make sure you buy one with its own power supply too, as the PS3 doesn't give out enough power via USB for an unpowered hub.

I have an unpowered USB hub and it works perfectly, with all four players plugged in, wireless dongles and all. Only cost £5 off Amazon, and it's tiny. Only cost £5 off Amazon, and it's tiny. Fair enough. I'm sure when RB launched all the reviews were warning people with PS3s that they'd need a powered hub. In fact, just found this post on the Rock Band forums from EA customer support: Rockband was only tested with powered USB 2.0 hubs, so that is the only type of hub I can say for certain will work. If you have another hub you can test there is no harm in trying it out however.

rafrasilecs
So here's a beginners question for you. I *heart*guitar hero but don't have any friends so didn't buy Rock Band. In HMV I saw an AC/DC solus pack which said it didn't need the full game. Is this any good just playing on a guitar only or is it simply not worth it? Any help gratefully received as AC/DC are one of my fave bands evar.

Any of the Rock Band games are ace fun with just a guitar. Don't let the name fool you; they're fully-featured in all modes, single or multi. AC/DC pack works on its own, yeah. I can't comment on it first hand, but I hear it's a bit of a stripped down package. If you get Rock Band 2 as well, you can import the songs into your playlist. SqueakyG
Hmmm. If you're a dedicated Rock Band player, then it's infuriating that the AC/DC album was released on disc rather than as DLC. It costs too much, and it makes you fart around with codes to get the songs downloaded into Rock Band 2. But from the perspective of someone who has never bought into Rock Band... hmm. It could be a good taster for you. They're mostly difficult songs on guitar, which would suit you as a Guitar Hero player. In general, the Rock Band games are not quite satisfying enough on guitar alone, if you have become accustomed to Guitar Hero games. But AC/DC make guitar nice and difficult for you. If you think it's worth the price, go for it.
rafrasilecs
Right, in that case I'll pick it up. I'll let you know how I get on. I never realised that RB was OK just on guitar. You may have another convert.
Kelthink
Rock Band 2 news for Europe: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/rock-ban...-for-ps-and-wii Basically, it comes out at the end of March on the PS3 and end of April on the Wii. And: The prices of instruments will also be revised: standalone drums will cost GBP 49.99, guitars GBP 39.99 and a full "instrument edition" set will set you back GBP 89.99.There'll be official software and hardware bundles for the first time in the region, too. These come in at GBP 119.99 for PS3 and Xbox 360 and GBP 109.99 for PS2 and Wii. Better priced instruments!

Exit Chamber
I can't read that at work, so please give me some good news - standalone 360 RB2 instruments? When?! Here you go. EA, Harmonix and MTV have announced that Rock Band 2 will be coming to British Sony and Nintendo fans within the next two months, and that they're cutting the cost of the game's instruments over here. PS3 and PS2 will get the musical sequel on 27th March, while a Wii version will be released on 24th April. The game's been out for Xbox 360 since last year, and indeed for all formats in the US since then - but an exclusivity arrangement with Microsoft has kept it off rival consoles in Europe for the intervening months. The game will sell for GBP 49.99 or PS3, GBP 39.99 on Wii and GBP 29.99 on PS2. The prices of instruments will also be revised: standalone drums will cost GBP 49.99, guitars GBP 39.99 and a full "instrument edition" set will set you back GBP 89.99. There'll be official software and hardware bundles for the first time in the region, too. These come in at GBP 119.99 for PS3 and Xbox 360 and GBP 109.99 for PS2 and Wii. These are now much more in line with US prices for Rock Band than previously. Justice at last.
bigbrick
none of that says we are actually getting the wireless RB2 instruments though. what's the betting it'll just be refurbed or unsold RB1 kit with a lower pricetag, at least on 360? Kelthink
I've got a feeling it'll be the new ones, it'd be silly to release the old ones again. Surely? Anyway, I've just passed the final drum challenge on expert. Sweating like a runner bean, me. Barely scraped through Painkiller and Panic Attack, woah! dan_tm
Ok, this isn't really on... I picked RB2 up last week and just started playing it. I must only be 10 or 12 songs in so can't judge the game as a whole*, but at least half the songs I've come across are either on GH:WT or I owned them as RB1 DLC. The former of those complaints, while quite annoying, can't really be a criticism of RB2, more of a "get your fucking act together Harmonix and Neversoft". The latter complaint is just downright rude though, I fucking paid extra for those songs under the illusion that it would be the only way I would get to play them, and now they're just going to include the better of RB1's DLC in RB2 anyway because they can't be arsed to make any new ones and they didn't sell much DLC? Cunts. (Unless of course someone can inform me that the songs only appear in your RB2 career if you bought the DLC for RB1, in which case I'll retract the cunts statement.) [/rant] Other than that, I'm enjoying the choice of music so far. *It's far too easy on expert guitar so far, but you'd expect that with the first few songs I guess. I hope it toughens up. Rudi von Starnberg
The DLC is shared between RB1 and 2, so if you have it for Rock Band 1 it gets added into Rock Band 2 automatically. And it does indeed show up in the world tour.
