Majora's Mask Finally.

Here's hoping that all the time its taken has been used to do something about the freezing problem that plagued the GC Collector's disc version.

As an aside, are we to assume that the Japan version will be the original with 3 Save Slots but no "Owl Save" where you can do a kind of save-state during the 3 days which is erased when you restart it?

In other, non-online leaderboard news, Majora's Mask is coming out next month in Japan.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. I wasn't sure we'd ever see it because it needed the RAM pack. AFAIK this is the first game that used it to appear on the VC. Maybe I can hope we will eventually see stuff which utilised other technical gubbins like Yoshi's Island.

Please have fixed the glitches from the GC version though.

Are the Ys games on Virtual Console the best versions of them ? I know that there's the DS version which has both games on one cartridge as well though it seems to be recommended to ignore that one and get the Virtual Console versions instead.

Always wanted to play the Ys games and have the PS2 one on its way as well. I gather these are the only Ys games available for the west ?

As well as being awesome in its own right, I like to think of Majora's Mask as a glimpse of a direction I wish Nintendo had taken with its games.

A re-used engine (to this day, I think MM is the only time Nintendo have done this) allowing faster turnaround on a title that had new ideas in gameplay, art direction & story.

Anyways, its a must download, & i'm glad the days of delays of titles between regions are, if not over, at least more rare.

This is on the Wii shop to download now if anyones interested. There is no warning on startup like the GC version about sound or graphic problems so hopefully this version will be more stable than the Collector's Edition release.

I'll gladly concede Majora's Mask as being the zenith of Nintendo's game design (and maybe even 'game design' in general). It's been (mostly) downhill ever since sadly. That's the sad fact of setting impossible standards. What a great console the N64 was.

Might well be...they are all dull games.

Give me Fable 2 any day of the week over OOT (or presumably MM).

Oh for God's sake...so blatant :)

It's one of my favourite games ever, the side quests are fantastic. There's so much emotion and atmosphere in the final moments it's fantastic.

There is still some very very minor sound stuttering when you walk into a new area in Clock Town, but it isn't especially bad. It's kind of on the level of the VC versions of F-Zero X and Mario 64 where you load a new level and there's a little stutter in the sound. I played up to where you turn back into Link so not been into the field yet but the framerate has been fine so far, I seem to remember it being a little shitty on the GC version in some areas in Clock Town. No freezing problems but I'd be very surprised if they hadn't been sorted. It's one thing to have them on a freebie disc, it's another to have them in a product people are paying money for.

I don't even know where to begin when trying to describe your wrongness here... I assume it's just trolling.

Nope, thats what I really think, I've tried almost all the Zelda games and never managed to get past a few hours before getting bored with the whole thing.

Anyway.

Majora's Mask is probably my favourite game of all time. I think it was the darkness of the whole thing. And I think that's why I had a problem with Wind Waker. To go from MM to a happy cartoon was a bit too much for me.

TWW was fairly dark beyond the bright exterior.
