El Pibe
Paraguay have got them last, and they might have given up a bit by then, so Santa Cruz or the other one (can't remember his name off the top of my head) might be worth a fiver each way. Cardozo? Yeah, he might be worth a punt.
a big boy
Anyone know who the regular penalty takers are for the 'top' nations? Villa is for Spain. Unfortunatly he's also the favourite. Put a fiver on Diego Forlan in Coral at 66/1 the other day. Scandalous odds.
hoot
I'd suggest people look at the odds for picking out the team to knock out England (or whoever). For example, Ladbrokes are offering 13/1 for France who we'll probably play in the quarters and 9/1 for Brazil who we could well meet in the semis. Seems like good odds to me. a big boy
Good shout about Brazil, but I wouldn't put it past France not to even make it out of their group.
hoot
I think we'll play France in the quarters and win, but at them odds, it's worth sticking a quid on I think.
DeadRussian
Ladbrokes and SkyBet differ quite a lot on certain players winning the golden boot. Milito (25-1 / 33-1) and Klose (28-1 / 40-1). I've been shopping around for free bets and have plumped for Brazil to win and Van Persie to win the golden boot at 100-1. Seems like a tasty long shot. glb
Good shout about Brazil, but I wouldn't put it past France not to even make it out of their group. Uruguay to win group A at 10/3 (Ladbrokes) is very tempting, so too Serbia to win group D at 11/4.
AlwaysBeClosing
I put a fiver on England/USA and Brazil/Portugal finish 1/2 in their respective groups. Not bad odds from the top of my head.
hoot
Is it possible to place a running bet (don't know the proper terminology) on the Ladbrokes site? Accumilator(?), maybe that's what I mean...
AlwaysBeClosing
Should be able to do an accumulator, it may be called a Double/Treble etc..?

Sirloin
Alexis Sanchez and Angel Maria are very nice each way shots for top goalscorer I am thinking. Sanchez playing in an attacking Chile side with their main goalscorer out, and Maria playing as one of a front three where his pace will be a primary counter attacking weapon. Dunno about ladbrokes but on most bookies sites just keep selecting adn your betslip will automatically adjust and give you accumulator options. Art Vandelay
You can get some really good value from the dual forecast group qualifiers on Ladbrokes. Simply betting on the most likely qualifiers from each group in an accumulator gets you 400/1. My wild guesses will get you closer to 7000/1 however. God, I like wasting my money. The Fox
Used the risk-free £20 from 888.com for a double on Brazil to win and Lucas Barrios to be top scorer. Pays out over £10k.
dogsout
Thanks to whoever used my betfair referral code a couple of days ago. I'm guessing it was someone from here.
dogsout
Aaaaaand I blew it on England at HT. I managed to build up my WC fund to about £200 thanks to the CL final and the friendlies. I chucked it all back at the bookie with a load of world cup bets as well as two punts on the next Liverpool manager: £30 on Roy Hodgson at 4/1 on the day Rafa went and £10 on King Kenny at a shade over 11/1 the day before his name started being mentioned with conviction. As for what I've backed for the WC: Spain at 4/1 Spain + Villa top scorer at just over 15/1 Spain + Fabiano at 64/1 Brazil + Villa at 41/1 Brazil + Fabiano at 23/1 Brazil + Robinho at 69/1 Van Persie top scorer at just under 13/1 Klose top scorer at 45/1 Robinho top scorer at 33/1 Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Holland and England to win their groups at 11/2 Lucio player of the tournament at 66/1 Sneijder player of the tournament at 26/1 Alonso player of the tournament at 50/1 Iniesta player of the tournament at 36/1 Schweinsteiger player of the tournament at 50/1 Di Natale nation's top scorer at 4/1 Gekas nation's top scorer at 2/1 I was on Gerrard AGS today at 11/4 but only stuck a tenner down. But it softened the blow of the result/throwing away the money from the referral a bit (thanks again, whoever you are). This thread is way too quiet; what are you all backing? tonymg
I had £100 on USA to win at 6/1 and £100 on the draw at 3/1. As for the rest of the group games, if the odds are decent I might back Ghana to beat Germany, Paraguay to beat Italy and Chile to beat Spain. dogsout
I hope you'll be making smaller stakes for those three. Paraguay v Italy isn't necessarily a bad shout but Ghana are shite and Spain... oh, Spain. I know the Germans have their problems (many of them) but they always play shit and go far. I think they've been undervalued a bit this year so I'll be backing them a bit. Fuck knows what I'll do for the Spain game but I won't be betting against them. Nice shout on the draw, you must be made up.
tonymg
Definitely less, probably only £10 and only if I can get somewhere in the region of 5/1. Very happy with the result, this was only my 4th and 5th bet in my life and my 3rd win.
dogsout
You've got balls if you're whacking down £100 on your 4th and 5th bets. Nutter!

El Pibe
My £2 on Heskey to score and England to win went well. Anyone dabbling today? Are Australia really bad? Their odds against Germany seem quite generous.
DeadRussian
Anyone dabbling today? Are Australia really bad? Their odds against Germany seem quite generous. Worth a punt, I guess, but the Aussies don't really have any goals in them. I'd maybe go for 0-0.
