I would've put my house on them giving Hotel Dusk a 6. I think that's harsh though. Similarly their Wario score's a little tough, but I wouldn't give that much more.

First negative Time Extend for a while then? I hope not. I think SMS is massively underappreciated. Loved almost every minute of it.

Really slow month for games, eh?

Has there ever been a negative time extend? Wouldn't that defeat the object? I mean it's one thing to extol the previously unidentified virtues of an overlooked (or underappreciated) game, but to have an article ripping the shit out of a game we all thought was good before, well, what a charming read that would be.

No, I didn't mean that they'd rip the shit out of it, just maybe look at 'what went wrong' (seeing as so many think it's one of the worst Mario games).

Like I say, I hope not, because I think it's really misunderstood. But it got decent critical appraisals at the time, then people seemed to collectively slate it. It'd make more sense for Edge to re-examine it in a slightly less positive light than in their original review.

so whats the MGS4 thing? just a preview? or a HK interview? or both?

Both, plus small interviews with Kensuke Yoshitomi (about Boktai's and Lunar Knights on DS), and Noriaki Okamura (Portable Ops).

Ohhhh can't wait to recieve mine (I have to wait an extra week for my copy to arrive being in a different country). Please tell us what the MGS feature contains. Also anyone willing to scan/photo the front cover?

The cover features the older Snake, in the usual MGS style with blue/silver camouflage. Edge talk with Hideo about MGS4, asses the series impact and lasting influence.

F1 Championship on the PS3 got a 4....shame it looked really good.

It is good - not the best arcade f1 game that I have played (that accolade goes to the Melbourne House effort on the ps2 which name i have forgotten) but it is a more than reasonable effort ... more than a 4/10 in my book anyway

And the Battlestations Midway score is just wrong wrong wrong (again in my book )

Edge gave it a nine and said it was one of the best platformers ever made, second only to Mario 64. I would hardly call that slating it

Hence me saying it got great reviews and would make more sense for them to evaluate their original position. Jesus.

And sure enough, the article is a more considered analysis of Sunshine. Not one that denies the quality gameplay within, rather one that looks beyond it, questioning elements that are normally absent from Mario games such as suggestion, context, and real world issues such as commerce and - shock! - actual plumbing.

Christ that sounds horrifically dull. I think Edge read way, way too much into games and see things that just aren't there.
