If they include the original song in the film, I'm out.

If they don't include the original song in the film, I'm out.

Although I would like to see them try to beat it.

I'm still looking forward to this, even thought I've never seen a Paul Feig/Melissa McCarthy film. I just hope it can breathe some life into one of my favourite fictional universes.

You should watch Spy. It's funny, uses McCarthy well (she's a proper badass) and doesn't rely on jokes about her size to get cheap laughs.

Just skip through all the bits with Miranda Hart in, because she is painful to watch.

Why? Just another thing to remind you of a much better film alongside all the original cast cameos. The problem I have with remakes or reboots, is that they say they want to create their own thing but they always keep reminding you of the original thing. Literally shove it down your throat, subtly is out of the window.

They've released photos of the Lego Ecto-1 sets for the film, including a Chris Hemsworth, motorcycle and a red gargoyle type demon.

They look bloody ace! Fuck the haters! :D

I love that article as it again implies if you don't like the thought of this remake, then you must somehow hate women.

Because there's not a chance in hell they could make a better theme tune. I've got absolutely zero interest in the film, because the talent on display is so far from the original it has absolutely no chance of being good. The only solace I can take is in the logo and the theme tune of the original being in place. Other than that, if Spy is anything to go by, it's going to be a brash, unfunny love-in for a group of talentless idiots who are somehow allowed to make a Hollywood film based on a classic. Fuck knows how or why.

I guess it's all those people who, when nothing was known about the film apart from the main people involved, said stuff like 'it's going to be awful and nothing more than a chick flick'.

Like you did.

Yeah, because life's as simple as "disliking a film genre" makes you hate women.

I saw GB at the cinema aged 9 and the simple fact for me is, it was a crowd pleasing blockbuster with some really obvious gags and a rudimentary plot, but elevated by stellar performances from Bill Murray and Harold Ramis and some great FX work. It's no masterpiece or holy grail. So I don't see why it can't have a female reboot, and I hope it has the same impact for it's cast as the original did.

Oh well that was almost a year ago. I didn't look back that far when I checked. Still I don't hold much hope for this, but not just because they cast women in the lead roles. Although it is partially because I hated bridesmaids so much.
