I've really enjoyed the Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundstystem, Menomena, Of Montreal, Deerhunter, Frog Eyes and Soft Circle albums.

I'm really looking foward to the new Avey Tare & Kia Brekken and Panda Bear albums. Oh and whatever MF Doom projects are out this year - ghostdoom? New Danger Doom? New Madvillain?

Hopefully the New CocoRosie will be betther than the toss that was Noah's Ark. This year is looking rather good!

Well from my original list :

The Shins - Wincing The Night Away -Fantastic, gets played a lot

The Earlies - The Enemy Chorus -Interesting and a lot more electronic than I was expecting, have to be careful I don't ignore it too much

Fred Deakin - Triptych -This is absolutley brilliant - If anyone liked the Tom Middleton Trip CD's you really have to get this - delightful stuff

The Bees - Octopus -Not heard yet and the promo is still too expensive

Adjagas - Adjagas -Forgot all about this, anyone recommend it - reviews sounded positive

Explosions In The Sky - All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone -Awaiting copy from Play as want the Ltd Edition mix CD

Jesse Malin - Glitter In The Gutter -I might pass on this, as reviews indicate its quite lazy

Richmond Fontaine - Thirteen Cities -Let this go for the moment as haven't been in the mood for really slow paced stuff

Awaiting releases of the rest in anticipation

Ma Fleur - Cinematic Orchestra

!!! - Myth Takes

Amon Tobin - The Foley Room

LCD Soundsytem - Sound Of Silver

Really enjoying Fionn Regan's album The End Of History at the moment.

myth takes is 'out there'... I've not listened to it yet, though.

I heard LCD Soundsystem's 'Sound of Silver' and Low's 'Drums and Guns' last year, but they are officially 2007 releases, so they have to count...

No love for Panda Bear on here? 'Person Pitch' is sublime stuff, already a contender for the year end polls...

also been loving:

Besnard Lakes - Are The Dark Horse

Bracken - We Know About The Need

L. Pierre - Dip

Stars of the Lid - And Their Refine of the Decline

Disappointments of the new year:

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Some Loud Thunder (where did your tunes go?)

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible (okay, but not brain blowingly amazing like Funeral)

Bloc Party - A Weekend in the City (a bit dull after how varied the first one was)

I haven't heard it yet, I'll wait for the release, it's not long now.

I did, however, forget to mention how much I've enjoyed the Deerhunter album Cryptograms. It's the first record in ages that I listened to three times in a row after getting it in the post.

Pre-order Myth Takes from Warp and you'll a 2CD version with some extra tracks. I listened to the leak quite a lot, it's pretty fantastic - probably their best so far. Going to see them live next month too

Gone for that thanks. Not much extra, but it might be decent stuff...

My friend gave me a copy of this the other day and, although not my usual style of music, I really like it.

He (my friend) is a well known techno producer and he was raving about Panda Bear's production skillzzz.

I've been loving the new Deerhoof album, Friend Opportunity.

Oh yes, I forgot about this one as well (leaked before christmas, I forget). It's really very good, isn't it. Possibly their 'tightest' record.

I  Deerhoof. Although Deerhunter deserve some love too.

No definite release date, but it it coming.

So, 5th of June. If that's the cover it's quite funny, if decidedly un-Shellac-y.

And the Stooges album is getting panned everywhere, quelle surprise. I think I'll give it a miss and try to pretend as if it never happened, not that it changes how good the other albums are, but still.

I bought the Panda Bear album today, it's really lovely if a tad odd. Like a 21st Century retake of the Beach Boys and Phil Spector.

The Stooges album got a 1.0 on Pitchfork today, ouch :) Their SXSW shows got panned too, I think I'll stick my head in the sand and pretend it never happened too.

One of my 'random finds' of last year (late - I know) was Maximo Park - not really my kind of music but I just love the "cheery brightness" and I love the singer's barely disguised Geordie accent

I know their next album is imminent but I've been disappointed by almost ALL the follow-up albums I've heard recently - many of which sounded like the better outtakes from previous albums (stand-up Keane, The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs and many others)

The new Maximo park single released yesterday tho - and although I normally ignore singles until there's an album I can "put it into context with" I ended up catching the video by accident and it's just amazing...

How many hooks can you put into 1 song? Have they used-up all the hooks they had on 1 track! ? Should I panic?

I know the album is 'out there' but I'd rather wait and get it when it comes along etc. etc. - I have decent hopes tho, it seems they've really sharpened up their sound without losing the bits I liked so much before...

If you've not heard Our Velocity tho, it's just a fantastic single...

Our Earthly Pleasures is quite good. Ok, Our Velocity is without a doubt the best of the lot, but it's not really less good than their previous album.

I'm really looking forward to Volta, from Björk. I have no idea what to expect, which is probably a good thing.

As you mentioned their non-Geordie-ness - I did a bit of digging and they're not even Mackems!

The singer is the only member from the North East at-all - he's from Billingham which technically makes him a Smog Monster

The rest are from Yorkshire, Lancashire, Derbyshite and India!!

and yet they call Newcastle home - well I guess someone has to - launch party at the Baltic anyone? :(

Air Traffic are doing the rounds as well.

I think their album is out within a month or so too.

Another vote here for Air Traffic (http://www.myspace.com/airtraffic). I'm really enjoying what I've heard.

I'm also getting into The Enemy (http://www.myspace.com/theenemycoventry), and am looking forward to seeing them at The Academy in Bristol, next month.

My personal 'big thing' for 2007 are Ghosts (http://www.myspace.com/ghostsuk). "Stay The Night" and "The World is Outside" are two of the best tracks I've heard in a long while.

I know people knock it. Yes, it does look bloody horrible most of the time, but I've found MySpace to be an absolute goldmine for getting into new bands.

Anyone heard of a band called Radar? I saw them play Yo Yo (an alternativey hip hop night in London) a couple of weeks ago. An impressive mix of dub, hip hop beats, post punk energy and Radiohead/dread spaced-out paranoia. They seemed to have quite a few tracks ready and are signed to EMI, so expect a potentially big album out this year. Website: www.radar.tv
