That might be your highest score per minute instead. You might need to swap boards with Triangle/Square.

Nope did that. It is for sure my All Time high score and my weekly best high score.

Can you have a look and tell me what you see as my All Time for V12?

Prince of Persia HD Trilogy along with Okami and the Team Ico stuff would be brilliant. These are the games I was pretty annoyed to lose with no BC.

I'm missing Global Defense Force. I must hook the PS2 back up properly again. Earth Defense Force 2017 on the 360 just isn't a patch on it.

Think theres just a delay in updating them, my all-time hadn't updated either but my weekly was updated straight away. Just managed 3 mill on V12 btw altho Monoccoto has nearly 8 mill to his name, i'll see what i can do about that tomorrow...

I noticed that Pixel Junk Racers 2nd Lap is out of PS+ members. It says if you have the original then you get 2nd Lap free.

My question is this. Does 2nd Lap contain all the 1st game in it too? So if I pay the price I get the 1st game included, or is it worth paying out for the 1st game and then getting 2nd Lap?

So Sony hate selling stuff to people then. Just been to the latest section on the store to be greeted with a super bright Scott Pilgrim advert that makes all the text in the list unreadable. This is one of those occasions where I'm amazed that someone gets paid to cock up so badly.

It's not the first time that it's happened either.

Quick question:

* my PS3 YLOD'ed

* I have an old backup on some external USB drive BUT...

...would like to use the more recent data on the HD still inside my PS3 phat.

Should I bother? I mean, I know how to restore from a saved backup, but is the HD now present in my bricked PS3 of any possible use?

Can I restore from my phatty's drive - after putting it in an USB2 enclosure - to my future new PS3 slim?

thx!

If you cannot access your HDD any more by booting your PS3, it's gone. A back-up is the only way to restore info.

Any PS3 will attempt to format any HDD that is not the one it was working on, regardless of whether it was in a different PS3 or not. If you want to transfer data to a Slim, you can use a Network Transfer via network cable, but this requires that you can still boot the original PS3 with its HDD present.

Simply put: try to create a back-up from your YLOD, otherwise be thankful you still have an older back-up.

I had the same problem when my 40gb died (luckily I got the same console back repaired from currys, made a backup and then it died again after 6 days ). It's really a shame that the HD and console are linked together that way- unless you backup pretty much every day if you have an older console, your saves are always in danger. If your 360 dies your saves are safe on a seperate piece of hardware, if your PS3 goes and you haven't made a recent backup, you're screwed saves wise.

And if your wii goes, well, I'm starting to see green artifacts on my wii when I play some games so I'm worried about that too, so I better start backing up my saves onto a SD card manually.

That's the one main thing I miss about seperate memory units being standard- your saves are nice and seperate from all your hardware. I've owned 3 PS2's over the last 10 years, but I still have my origina GT3 save from when I bought my first one safe on a memory card.

I really hope that the next generation have cloud technology. I might actually look into getting a couple of USB Drives for all my saves.

It's really bloody awkward backing up your saves manually (some can't be copied and transferred) so it's much better to get a larger external HDD and do a full back-up every month or so.

I should make a point of doing that.

I think cloud based storage is definitely on the way. Sony trademarked PS Cloud some time ago, and cloud based saves were on the original Playstation Plus survey form, so it's certainly something we'll see in the future, although I'm guessing it will likely come with the next generation rather than this one.

The fan in the PS3's really starting to annoy me now. I swear it never used to be this loud. It's an original backwards-compatible type, and playing a PS2 game yesterday it didn't take it long to click on to the second loudest setting, with occasional switches to the loudest every hour or so.

It's on the bottom of an open glass TV stand with about a foot of space behind it. The room's about 25c right now. There's a website saying prop it up on two metal cans to increase airflow underneath, which I did, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I had a look at the vents but there's no dust I can see clogging it. Does anybody recommend opening up the case to give it a clean inside (it's out of warranty)? Other than that I don't know what to do. Anybody else get this?

Mine gets pretty loud at times (Fat US PS3 with B/C) and I just do the hoover-the-vents thing. There's no harm in cracking it open and having clean round to see if it helps, then you can tell me how easy it was so I can do mine! And if it does YLOD you'll have the confidence to open it up again and maybe attempt a fix.

My 60GB has been roaring like a jet engine since I got it, over 2 years ago, but still refuses to die. So keep the faith in it, you may well be fine!

I hope I am not jinxing myself, mind.

Anyway, someone in this very thread said you could take proactive steps to prevent this by cracking it open and redoing the thermal paste on the CPU. Haven't tried it myself, but it sounds plausible.

Hello!

I got a PS3. My id. is Pangram so add me I guess. Dunno if I'll really play it online though. I tried MAG last night and I couldn't win a 50/50 to save my life, people were running right in front of me, I'd start opening fire at them, and then they'd do a 360 spin, turn around touch the ground, jump up three times and then knife me in the face from 10 metres away.

All multiformat stuff I have on 360. Any exclusive multiplayer stuff worth playing?
