A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

COD4???

yeah, one of the biggest releases on the PS3, some shite reason for not implementing it, way to go IW :(

On a lighter note, I treated myself to SSHD, that game is so goddam cool, I am waaaaaaay off Spacehosts' score :( , but it is very enjoyable

Just wondering where the heck is Wipeout HD, this was initially due in March, then moved to second quarter...

Yay, finally got my PS3 just now; £325 from Zavi with MGS4 & GT5. Got the trigger things as well from GAME. Was going to hold out for a bit longer but the lure of MGS4 (and Wipeout) was too much. Currently downloading 2.41, fingers crossed.

Might as well ask this here - I don't have a HDTV (yet...) but my CRT can take S-Video - I think the cable sells for around £10-£20 - does it make that much of a difference? Cheers.

Yes probably the best image you can get without component.

I got the triggers instore, £2.99.

Thank you, looks like I'll be popping out later then for the cable!

Just been trying to buy PS1 Wipeout and G-Police, but it refuses to recognise either my mastercard (the one I got the PS3 with an hour earlier) or my mastero card. Anyone else had that? I have a feeling there is a difference between how the card holders formats my address and how the store does, i.e. town is actually on address line 2 or something. However, I don't think I can face trying out different combinations at the moment, so will have a try later...

Try logging in here - http://store.playstation.com/game/index.vm

And topping up from there.

EDIT: G-Police is shit, always was, always will be. Spend your money on something else! Super Stardust HD if you haven't already. Best twin-stick shooter around.

EDIT EDIT: And Wipeout HD comes out in (hopefully) a week or so. So save that money! Maybe Get PixelJunk Monsters if you like stuff like Desktop Tower Defence.

I have decided, in a controversial turn around that the triggers are infact tatty plastic wank. When requiring delicate squeezing (for example balancing a drift on the throttle in GT5 Prologue) they make me feel like I have the dead, senseless fingers of a diabetic. Maybe better for games that require less sensitive movement.

Thanks Soong. Tried the link and got the same thing with both of mine and the missus' credit card as well for good measure. After the 3rd try its now given a different message about contacting tech help. I'm thinking there must be something up at their end, will try later, not the end of the world and MGS4 is calling :)

G-Police was great btw! Ok, terrible, terrible draw distance but loved the little city and the missions. Will however give Super Stardust a try.

I think they make the travel on the triggers feel really vague. I think the pad is better without them. They take all the feel away. I just didnt get on with them. :-(

Are you sure you dont have a dud set? Mine are perfect and I dont have any of the problems you describe.

How could they be dud? Just plastic trigger extensions. They felt comfortable to start with, just lack "feel" thats all.

Maybe they are moulded too big or stick out too much etc The ones I have are pretty tight to the buttons beneath and even the slightest movement corresponds with the pad.

GTFO, G-Police was pretty decent as i recall !

The whole pad is vague with or without triggers, the triggers just make it more comfy esp in games that use lots of buttons ala Warhawk

I actually found them a bit weird at first, it really depends on the game. They make GTAIV a much more comfortable experience, but COD4 feels a bit weird with them on since the action feels clunkier.

I got an Eye recently so I've mucked about on video chat a bit. Talking to my sister (using an old EyeToy on their end) it works pretty great, albeit they're in low res thanks to their cam. But to my other mate he only seems to be coming in at about 100kbps with a really slow update. Audio is fine. I'd blame his out-in-the-stuicks internet, but apparently on msn webcam chat he doesn't have this trouble. Any ideas to improve it?

I know what devil-goh means about the triggers. I think it's the lack of resistance. It took more force to hold L2/R2 down without the trigger extension, just by merit of their woefully poor design - I had to really press my middle fingers down on them to stop them slipping off the triggers.

With the attachments and comfortable design, it deadens the sensation a bit, so just takes the slightest amount of force to depress them fully. Controlled analogue pressure is just down to practices with them, rather than relying on the physical feedback you get on the heavy 360 triggers.

Still, it didn't take long at all to get accustomed with them, and I could never go back to extensionless pads.

I bought this one yesterday. The rose tinted specs quickly came off I'm afraid. Controlling 3D objects with a d-pad is all but impossible after all these years of analogue sticks and mice, and the pop up, the pop up is beyond a joke - it makes Driver 2 look decent.

Definitely one to be left alone tbh.

I tried trigger extenders for a week a couple of weeks ago but I ended up taking them off too. I don't play many driving games, which I think they'd be good for. I think if you've been an Xbox and a PS owner, you might get more joy out of the extenders, but I've never owned an Xbox so I didn't have any trouble after the first week or so with the PS3 triggers. Or the sticks for that matter. I guess because it's what I'm used to versus whatever pleasures await for long-time users of a 360 pad. The vanilla pad does me just fine, apart from the one I bought around Christmas that got knackered through too much COD4.
