A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

I thought it always did 8 digits so that people can't get the length of your password by looking about on your machine? Could be wrong, I'm on WPA.

Yeah that's correct.

Do what rev says and reboot the router, there should be a reset button on the back of it.

Also, make sure you're using the right key. A lot of routers have a box to use a friendly word to generate a WEP key, then generate 4 keys off it. You need to use 1: the key, not the friendly word and 2: use the right key. It's no good using key 1 if the router's set to be looking for key 4.

But what had he updated to the day before? If he had 2.4 from the week before, then there was no other update the week it was taken down. If he had 2.36 (the previous firmware) then that was out three weeks ago. So I think murray is saying, what firmware was that you were getting yesterday. The only thing I can think of is that he's just bought a new playstation 3 and was prompted to update the firmware when he put in a game disc.

So, Madkiwi has been lying all along, and Shimmy is trying to bail him out too. The question is, what's Mads agenda? Who's he working for, and who are they working for?

We'll probably never see him again. No doubt he'll pull some strings to get his posting history deleted and soon we'll be questioning whether he ever existed at all.

i work for the government.

i'm thinking it was the 2.36 update, since i hadn't fired up a game in a while, the ps3 being my blu-ray player. i'm just finding the way the playstation does updates (system and game) feeling archaic compared to the xbox. that said, i haven't had to return my ps3 twice ... yet.

Switched on my PS3 very early this morning to find about six people on my friends list apparently active. Tried to send one (who I knew had sold his first PS3 last year) a message and the instant I clicked on send my PS3 crashed (complete with a circuitboard-type display) and locked completely. Came back on after switching off and on but now I long for the heady, stable days of 2.40. :(

I downloaded 2.41 yesterday.

Been trying to play a bit of UT3 on my Ps3 today, and i've had about 6 complete lock ups. Resulting in me turning off the console to get it to reboot.

My Ps3 is a 40gig and not very old. Until today I've had zero issues.

hmm.

Dammit, 2.40 worked perfectly for me! I knew I shouldn't have downloaded 2.41

I'm going to see if I can find 2.4 somewhere and try to downgrade my firmware back to 2.40

Is it where you try to connect to a game, because I had that quite bad with 2.4, but 2.4.1 seems to have fixed it!

Not using the in game XMB stopped the trouble, but is hardly the 'fix' people are looking for.
