A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

Recommended Posts

I asked Xib on PSN why he didn't like me, and he responded saying he didn't dislike me, just that he came across as gruff.

So we both like each other - my only problem with Xib at all is that I think he needs to step out of Uzis shadow and become his own man. At present there's an undeniable feeling on the forum that Xib only became a moderator by holding onto Uzis coat-tails, and he needs to overcome that. Uzi is clearly gunning for an admin spot now, you can see it in every post he makes, but I think if Xib wants it hard enough he could be a contender. At the very least he'll make his own mark on the forum, and throw away accusations of being a caretaker mod by showing us he's more than that. He should do what he can, in the time that he has, to elevate the forum to new levels of greatness, and let that be his legacy.

In other news, when are DS3s coming out on sale here? I don't wanna import as I'm too scared.

Someone telling you they don't dislike you does NOT mean they like you.

Loving the shit stirring. The feeling on the forum my arse. It's just what you think and you generally talk bollocks.

I'm fucking fed up of having to install games, it's ridiculous. This is the future, is it? :(

I have a 40GB PS3, which is about 36GB formatted, and each game you have takes up around 4GB of space. So if I have a few Store games, demos, videos and albums on there there's not much space left for installations. You can uninstall them when you're not playing the game as much, but it'd be such a pain having to wait while it installs again you just wouldn't bother playing it. It should be an option before you play the game, I'd rather have slightly longer load times to be honest.

Not actually played it yet; saving it for this evening. I was just curious to see if anyone else will be about.

You get a charming red drawstring bag to keep your wireless buzzers in though!

Except that the trophies aren't registering now. I should have the seven minutes without dying, the 45 seconds without shooting and the collect 5 bonuses with a boost but none were acknowledged and don't show up in my trophies.

Are you sure you're playing the right mode? i.e. Endless, Survival, Arcade, etc? It says in the description which mode they apply to.

I like being in Uzi's shadow. It's warm.

Now get back on topic.

Is it any good? What about creating your own quizzes - does that work well? I haven't read the Buzz thread, sorry.

Really enjoyed playing it online with friends last night. I'm completely rubbish at quizzes but at least if you are in 4th place as I usually was you get to choose the next category of questions. Didn't help me much. :(

Xib, Uncharted had no installation and no loading, and still managed to be a gorgeous game. So it can be done - the problem is reviewers never mentioning that sort of thing, or fans trying to be dismissive of it as a problem, so why should developers bother optimising their game? MGS was taking the piss with it's five installs and constant loading, even with multiple loads in the middle of chase sequences.

I take your point, man. However, I'm not even remotely interested in it. Sorry.

I fail to see what benefits installing games on the PS3 have given me. Shorter loading times my arse.

Uncharted, ya mean? Me neither, I played the demo on easy mode and it was still really hard.

Personally lookin forward to Resistance 2, Wipeout HD - if theres a blue ray release, LBP, Motorstorm 2, Saints Row 2, Killzone 2, Mirrors Edge, Home, and Final Fantasy 13.

Hard disks are the new memory cards.

In Sony's defence, you can get a bigger hard disk from anyone and fit it with a screwdriver, you don't have to buy a branded one.

I've deleted my SSHD save file and started again and it all seems to be working.

This is borked.

Yeah I did the 45 second one and didn't get it either. I was boosting though but it only says no bombs or shooting.

Other trophies registered fine though.

I'd obviously rather not have installing, but I don't think it's the huge crime it's made out to be. Yes it is a problem but I've not played a install game that takes ages to load anything. A lot of 360 games take ages to load, so there is some benefit, but I've never done time trials or comparisons of any kind

MGS4 for example has a fair few loading points, and multiple installs but any loading it does is very short - certainly a lot quicker then runnining it all from disc. Subsequent installs are a fraction of the space and time, because it only installs what it needs for that specific section as much of the data remains constant.

However I'm the sort of person who takes a lot of breaks during games (browse the forum or whatever), so I see installing as a time to do something while it's going about it's business. it's mostly japanese developers making the large install games, but I've never understood why.

I'd rather no installs but I don't really mind. It's funny cos usually when I get a new game I'm all excited, turn it on then post crap on the forum for a while before playing it. Now I have an excuse as I'm waiting for it to install.

I have quit a few games installed now though and still something like 25gb left (out of 60gb) so I don't think I'll find the storage a problem. And like people have said, sticking a 250gb hdd in there will negate that completely.

MGS4 is criminal for installing. I got that game home and spent 20 minutes downloading a firmware update, then put it in expecting to play straight away, and I'm sat there for another 20 minutes. And afterward all I could think of were cigarettes. Thanks.

IM not too fussed about about installs, but MGS was taking the piss. I was at a friends house the other day annd he was showing me the game. He had completed it, so showed me a later level, which needed a 3min install. Then he loaded an earlier stage and it needed an install. He then loaded the previouse stage again and it needed to do the same install it had just done 20mins earlier.

Really? I'm playing through MGS4 at the moment and it's installed stuff a couple of times but I thought it must be an accumulative type thing.

What you describe is such a poor state of affairs I almost can't believe it. Christ I thought we'd left multi-loads behind with the Spectrum.

Huh? Going back to previous levels needs another install?! What, it just deletes your previous installs without asking you or something? A fuck up of biblical proportions.

Not really. An act can take upto several GB in size so it makes sense to get rid of the old install and bung on the replacement as most folks these days will have 40GB PS3's.
