A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

It's amazing how much art direction plays in making a game look good. Compare, say, Turok to Shadow Of The Collosus. I know which one looks better, even if the graphics are getting on a bit.

Finally, someone with some sense!

Comparing Uncharted and Bioshock is difficult but I'm much more impressed with Uncharted. I think Bioshock is OK artistically but technically I wasn't impressed. I think Gears is very nice looking. Heavenly Sword is also lush. Both consoles have great lookers but I'm looking forward to the PS3 being pushed to the limit.

Shoddy ports and first generation games are worth avoiding. If you buy a new console it is better to buy them after 9 months to give developers a chance to develop the coding skills for PS3. I always buy my console about 9 months after it got launched (apart from Wii)

It always better to stick with Japanese developed games and exclusive games for PS3.

Found this about the COD4 patch, I think it's accurate, finding games is near-instant which is nice:

Identify party by Background Color (in Lobby)

Optimized Server selection for first match for better connections

Improved network performance for 18 player games

Optimized 'Chase Cam' when Spectating

Fixed Playlist error when attempting to join from other games

Handle Corrupt Create A Class data instead of kicking player

Added Kill cam to Airstrike bombs and Claymores

Added the ability to Mute Players on PS3

Added Recently Met Players on PS3

Tweaked the following Oldschool Mode Settings based on feedback:

- Added Unlimited Sprint

- Increased Magazine Size

- Added Ragdoll Cam

and finally, something we're working on getting into it by the time it hits you:

Addition of Host Migration so if Host Leaves auto-chooses next best host

EDIT: Hmm, apparently this is due to servers now being worldwide... there's a big thread on the official forums with Europeans complaining that they have to play against loud-mouthed TKing Americans :) Which does suck, I must admit.

Right guys- heres my dillema. I have a 360, but its banzzored and needs the occasional towel to get it going, but otherwise works fine. I can play my bioshocks and halos and what not on there.

I have around £330 in currys/pc world vouchers I was initially going to get a 360 arcade so I could play online again- Call of Duty, Burnout, Halo etc. But thats £199 and I thought, you can already play 360 games, why not get a PS3 and use that as your online console for a while and get a second/replacement 360 later in the year.

Makes sense, huh. I've owned and used a PS3 before but I've never played a game online on them. Home looks to be a good muckabout and some of the exclusives like Uncharted look like a decent romp about.

To people who played the 360 Call of Duty and PS3 one, how big a difference is there in the feel of the controls? If I play with you twiks (Soong, MURRAY, Spacehost etc) do you guys use voicechat or play like anonymous girls? I have a feeling that I'm just going to suck at COD with the PS3 pad. I mean, it's an FPS, have they got it right? Or anywhere near as good as the 360 feels of the controls?

I'm a bit torn, I have my live buddies and 360 pad on one hand, and the lure of owning a PS3 and using that to go online, as I'll be getting one anyway. Just seems more exciting than getting a second 360 for something I used to be able to do before.

Managed to get it up and running online, pleased about that. Anything I should be downloading as a priority? I've done the system update and I've got the Super Stardust HD demo. Got some movie trailers cued up and the Motorstorm demo.

Had a quick look at Uncharted but tbh everything looks a bit horrible through composite. Picking my hdmi cable up, along with some other games, in the morning.

What's the deal with PSN being in 4:3?

Anyway so far I like the system. As mentioned it's really quiet but as a 360 owner, the difference is astonishing I think. I don't mind the controller, feels just like the old dualshock and I never had a problem with that. Nice that it doesn't need batteries. Shame about no rumble of course.

Definitely hasn't got an online frontend as slick as the 360. It feels quite amateurish in comparison, but the hardware itself is well nicer in terms of build quality.
