Here's a riddle: How do you make a game not fun?

Dead inside? I honeslty don't know what I'm missing with the fucking game. I managed to get through all the waves, lost a couple of men. Then I set about the boss and when he got to the top of the screen dismantled all the towers I didn't need and built as many as I could around the approach to the house. Guess what? He had no energy AND STILL DIDN'T FUCKING DIE. Games that are hard for the sake of being hard are fucking rubbish. I suppose there's the possibility I'm being rubbish at this but it's minimal because I've tried so many different way's of trying to best it and I fail every time. Level 3 on easy shouldn't be very very very fucking difficult.

Anyone had any luck with Remote Start? It works for me at home directly to the PS3. It works through my router but if I try at someone elses it doesn't work.

Hmm. I haven't got round to trying remote start from anywhere other than my own home (useful, eh?) but even then it's a bit hit and miss. Need to remind myself but I'm fairly certain I can connect with the "Internet" option (as opposed to PRIVATE NETWORK" which I assume is directly to the PS3) but I can't connect to the internet with the PSP.

Networking issues really get on my nerves and wireless tech seems to have created a whole new world of annoyance. Why can't these things just work?

I keep thinking about getting Resistance, but I can never decide one way or the other whether it's any good, from impressions on here and so on.

It's great! But if you're coming at it after playing all the brilliant FPS's that have appeared subsequently it may be a let-down.

Subsequently? If you've been playing FPSs since Half-Life 2 Halo Half-Life Quake 2 Doom it's a let down.

Resistance bored the tits off me. It's a step ahead of the last TimeSplitters but it's not even in the same league as, say, CoD4 or HL2.

It's a very good FPS and provides weeks/months of fun if you get into it.

How many other decent FPS's were available on PS3 when it was released??? Oh yeah, none. It did the Ronseal and did exactly what it said on the tin.

Since then CoD4 and Team Fortress 2 are better bets for multiplayer. Or you could just get the PSone version of Doom

The last 1/3 of Resistance is one of the best FPS experiences out there IMO.

Unfortunately, the first 1/3 is one of the worst.

I probably will get UT3 if there people on here with it. I used to love Unreal Championship on the original XBox, such a well balanced game. I played it much more than Halo 2 (online).

The Unreal Tournament games are superior to the Unreal Championship games but Unreal Tournament 3 is totally dead online. Probably because most of the people that bought the game are in America and asleep. I doubt it will sell much when the PAL version is released although looking at the recent sales for PS3 games in Europe I see owners are actually buying games for the damn thing. It's a gorgeous looking game when you tinker with the graphical settings.

I really liked it. The levels were a good size (not too short, not too long) and the sci-fi plot kept things moving along nicely. I wasn't bored at any point, except the first 20 minutes which were a bit dull.

But then I'm not your average shooter player. COD4 bored me to sleep.

Luckily I still haven't bought COD4 for the 360, so I might get the PS3 version and enjoying playing it online, for free.

How does the PS3 version of Assassins Creed fare?

Going back to UT3, does is not look good by default, talking about fiddling with the settings and stuff?

I got COD4 coming tomorrow, woo I had it once and completed the singleplayer but never played multiplayer. Did over the weekend and it's awesome. Can't wait.

If you're just getting/got a PS3, I'd urge you not to overlook Heavenly Sword; like Assassin's Creed it gets a far harder time than it deserves and is in fact a very good game and the only one I've experienced on PS3 where I thought the motion controls were employed usefully.

It's fucking dreadful - the graphics are the now standard brown/sludge/grey affair and they are not that impressive at all. The plays like shit with some horrible weapons. One of the worst games I've played in ages, avoid it at all costs. Thank fuck I picked up Uncharted at the same time

Don't agree. I quite liked it. Not groundbreaking but very playable on a casual sort of level.

I might be being a tad harsh, IF (and that's a massive if) I had no other games to play and all my other consoles broke, and all my PCs & laptops died - then it might be semi OK. But compared to some of the quality titles around (I'm including 360 and Wii in this) all sitting waiting to be played and vying for my attention and time, Resistance frankly hasn't got a chance, when viewed in that light it's absolute shit.

So basically I'm looking at a choice from COD4, Motorstorm, UT3, Warhawk, Ratchet & clank and possibly Heavenly Sword, Resistance and Assassins Creed. And I have soft spot for the Ridge Racer series so I might consider RR7.

I'll probably get Warhawk cos it comes with a headset. What's it like online?

Also, what's the latest news on MGS4, with regards to a release date? Being honest that's the real reason I've ordered the machine.

If you had nothing to compare it with, its fine. As a 360 owner though, you may find yourself tearing your hair out as getting up and running and organising a game with friends is overly complex and and can be very frustrating.

Warhawk is awesome fun. Great online, 30+ players, no lag.

No set MGS4 date, my guess is Nov 08.

Playing with mates is frustrating but jumping in a random game is pain-free. And I don't think there's anything like it on any other console. Craaaazy good fun.

Hopefully the whole playing with mates thing will be better with Firmware 3.0!

I'm just about to cancel my Xbox Live Gold account. A bit sad really, but I don't see the point of it when I can play online for free on the PS3. I don't play Halo 3 online that much anyway.
