A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

Recommended Posts

Check out this email I got from Q-Games in Kyoto (PixelJunk people):

Hello Andrew,

My name is [NAME] and I deal with the media/PR side here at Q-Games.

A lot of our recent work involves the PSN, so I guess our paths might cross quite regularly going forward.

I was wondering if you would be interested in an email interview with Q-Games that could go up on the PSN site - please let me know what you think!

BTW, will you be at GDC this year?

Thanks,

[NAME]

Niiiiiice!

If anyone has any questions, lemme know!

That's amazing. Free games ahoy. So are you going to GDC then?

If it was me I`d probably ask something like the following:

How many more genres are they going to branch into, they already have a wide net where else can they go and what would they like to move into?

Do they ever want to proress to the next stage above PSN, full disc releases or are they happy creating small downloadable products?

Would they ever consider releasing on anything other than PS3?

What titles do they draw influence from?

Pet game hates, things that bug them the most (cakc cameras etc)?

Your not really going to be able to get anyhting juicy from them but as a interview it will be something else to put on your site.

I can write you reviews of everyday shooter, mortak kombat 2 and superstardust if you want them, just let me know.

I want to know what Pixeljunk are doing next and why are they just on PSN, not complaining just asking, are they owned by Sony or is PSN easier to get onto at the minute? How is the small game for small price thing working out, is it better/more exciting/harder than the traditional retail release business model?

Sorry those are all really boring questions. I'm glad it's your site and not mine. Still you're going to San Fran then? Bring me back some Butterfinger, those sweets are lush.

Is Theme Hospital massively bugged or am I just playing it wrong. Each brief asks me to do stuff that I just can't do. Yet I do well in the game and get offered a new job anyway. Like it says I need to research stuff but I never can. Yet I cure almost everyone and then move onto the next level. Most of the stuff mentioned in the brief doesn't happen and it's like the same game over and over but in a different hospital!

Aye alright. I take it US content is included in what you want to review?

Yeah US content is fine. As long as it's stuff that's coming to the UK store. Which I imagine it all will. Eveeentually.

I haven't had any problems with it. I did forget you can buy extra buildings though, so I was stuck on the hospital value challenges for ages.

I'm the only one who turns the PS3 off at the back then?

My PS3 is always in stand-by when I'm not using it. Too much hassle to turn on the console at the back every time you want to play when you can just press the button on the controller.

If I use it during the day I leave it in standby until I'm going to bed or leaving the house for a while. Then I switch it off at the back until I want to use it again another day.

Well, after spending months blasting Sony and their clusterfuck of a PS3 project, I went out and bought one today, with Ratchet & Uncharted. I wanted to play both of those games, and it'll be a good Blu-Ray player when I finally become HD-Ready at the end of the year. As much as the BC issue still irritates, as snidey and silly I think the failure to even include it in software form is, I do have a perfectly functional PS2 which will utilise most of the same leads for now, so....I came to the conclusion that I shouldn't let it piss me off as much as it was doing. Though it really still does....

I had no intention of purchasing an Xbox at first last time around but by the end of the generation I loved the thing, so perhaps the PS3 will follow a similar route. Early impressions were that it looks even uglier in my front room than I could have possibly imagined, that I like the fact that the controller - flimsy and soon to be replaced by a DS3 it is - charges through USB, that it's nice not to have another power brick, that it's really impressively quiet, that I like the fact it recognised my camera so quickly and TOUCH BUTTONS! I'd never actually touched the power or eject switches before. ^_^

I've barely touched the games so far, but I shall do soon....

So yeah - Software remains thin on the ground, Sony cocked up with it in so many ways, it looks ugly but it's really a very impressive piece of kit in its own way. I'm sure it'll validate its purchase in due course.

I fucking hate that I am, ultimately, a console whore who'll own almost everyone at one point or another, but it'll always be my little weakness.
