A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

Aceness! i think it will replace the 360 as the media player for my pc to tv stuff.

I really want it now...and i know the mrs got paid today!

What you want to install is TVersity.

I have 802.11g network (54Mb), and PC to PS3 streaming since the DIVX update on the PS3 has been stupendous. Really good. The quality has really improved since I first started hacking around with it last year.

Im not a ps3 owner yet, but my girlfriends buying me one as a valentines day/anniversary present next month

I was wondering what its like for playing back media? Can you stream things from your pc like you can the 360?

Thanks! :o

Forget that, get some photos on it, or stream them, choose slide show and "photo album" and then sit back and have a big wank over it.

I meant in regards to the PS3, but you knew that already. I love how I can play my PS1 games on PSP or PS2.

I think that you can still play your PS1 games on the 40GB PS3 its just the PS2 BC that has gone! Although it does suck to lose it I'm not sure I've run a PS2 game since I got my PS3 let alone played one on it! But its nice to know you *can*!

Aye, the thing is I don't need backward compatability because I have a PS2 but I'd like it because it would allow me to play Dragon Quest VIII or Okami without fuddling around with all the damned cables and unpacking the PS2.

Also, I only ever played the PC version which was just like a sandbox game. This seems to have a mission structure to it. Which might be a good thing.

I think, on the PC, you had to meet a few mission objectives (hitting financial targets, or curing whatever) then you could choose to carry on after you'd met them. Is it like that?

Hell, for £4 I may as well find out myself.

Does anyone know when dual shock 3's will be packaged with the console itself? I want to buy a ps3 in the near future, but I hate the default pad

Rumours are a 120gb unit with DS3 will replace the 80gb version in the next few moths. In the UK, probably not 'til MGS4 though.

I don't know what my PS3 is up to with Xvids, but I was watching a Simpsons off a memory stick last night and it played right to the end of the starting credits (precisely) and then stopped dead with a 'content cannot be played' message. Thinking it might have been a memory stick error I tried it in the 360 - worked fine all the way through. What fresh hell is this?

Is it VBR? Can you even get Xvid VBR? I don't know, but it's the only thing I can think of.

I should have tried it again to see if it happened in exactly the same place, but I couldn't be arsed. I've never seen it decide to stop partway through before, and the precision of the cutoff point was bizarre.

Shit Simpsons, too, though that was less of a surprise.

I've had that on one video. Fast-fowarding just past the problem point sorted it. Don't know what it is. I've had that on the PSP, too.

Cheers, I'll try that if there's a next time. I'd rather use the PS3 where possible as the Xbox is a noise machine with comparatively poor AV controls and my DVD player won't rewind or ff divx at all (but, unlike the consoles that came well after it and are a billion times more powerful, will play anything thrown at it).

Conflict Denied Ops is shit, if anyone's wondering.

It's not that bad after you get used to the shit controls and the online co-op is quite cool.

I like the lean feature too.

I just think it's mainly deemed bad because of the shortness of the demo and location.

It plays ok. The menu system is good enough when you get used to what button does what. The only problem you get is that it's quite hard to position stuff where you want it using a d-pad. But I think that's just a case of getting used to it. It looks really good on a PSP.

The pc version most definitely had a mission structure. There was a "board game" design to the mission screen.

It's tempting.
