A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

Do you know what I hate about PS3? The fact that you can't play games on the singleplayer mode whilst you're downloading a demo. I just went to play a bit of Ridge Racer 7 and after a race I exited the game to find the download was the same percent done as when I last left it :P

I don't think all games do it, it's probably just because of the online ranking in RR 7.

It won't DL while a game's connected online, for bandwidth reasons or something. I can merrily play single-player MotorStorm, CoD4 etc with DLs going, but hit the multiplayer and bam- it pauses until you go offline again.

That's not the most annoying thing by far! I'd love to be able to put the thing on stand-by while downloading and then shut down when finished. Surely that's not too hard to implement?

Yeah I reckon that'll come soon, or something similar. You can already set F@H to shutdown after X hours or when it's finished the current batch. So it must be on their minds.

And I noticed you can still make virtual PS2 memory cards on the 40GB version... :P

They'll be offering us all our old games to download I bet. At a price, of course. Now they've got hard drives to use up, real backwards compatibility is dead in the water :(

Have you tried a PS2 game on it for shits and giggles? (prefereably one that works on a 60GB machine)

Will it be possible to download DMC4 tonight, save it to external HDD and load it onto another PS3 tomorrow?

Also how long do you think it will take to install the demo? or perhaps for the demo they have loading times like the 360?

WTF the demo is on the harddrive so it will have quick loading times. As for transfering demos not sure you can do that although I've never tried.

Todays euro update is there already.

Pixeljunk monsters (£3.49) and Judge dredd (PS1- £3.49) are the main things. There's some trailers and themes also.

Buy Pixeljunk monsters people. It's a fantastic tower defense game.I've spent far too many hours with it over the past few weeks. And there is a demo on the Japanese store if you're interested in giving it a go

Fantastic. I thought it was only out in Japan today, not Europe as well. Excellent. Not that I can download anything as I've just moved flat and won't have broadband for 3 weeks.

Cue HOME.

Right then I need a headset and a camera for my PS3 for online shenanigans on Burnout Paradise, what's the best options for purchase on the highstreet? I'm looking for a headset if possible (via USB?) and I beleive the 360 cam works on the PS3 too so can be swapped between consoles, is this right?

I just looked up Judge Dredd, as I didn't know a Playstation Dredd game existed. It's a light gun game, which was awful in 1998. I don't think I'll be spending £3.49 to play that one, especially without a light gun.

Though the cut scenes do sound bad enough to be almost worth the cost...

I had the misfortune to buy it when it first came out. I am a sucker for light gun games but this one is really awful.

Seriously, I'm sure Soong could do a 'collected rumours' column from a mystery "smoking man" which is all just these collected bullshit tales. In the right presentation it could be great!

"Awright mates.

[puffs on L&B]

Fing is, right, Xbox has seen that Blu-ray might win, innit? So's what they've done, right is made this new Elite 2 one, man it is is the best one you's ever gonna see. Sony got to watch out, know what I'm saying. It's got HD-DVD AND Blu-ray, for only £400. Apparently it plays copied games and all.

Anyway laters man.

[stubs L&B, melts into darkness]"

Only you know, written by someone who can write comedy and stuff.

Get a YouTube clip of your 'smoking-man' saying something similar, and you've got yourself a winner.
