A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

Regarding Crysis, the PS3 GPU is basically a 7600GT. I've got one of those. When I tried the Crysis demo... well, it wasn't pretty. Or fast. I know there are things you can do with optimisation but technically I think expecting Crysis to run on any current-gen console without a massive graphical downgrade is far-fetched. Mind you, it would certainly help sales if they could release a new PC version of Crysis which runs on more than 1 in 10,000 gaming PCs.

Yeah but surely they can throw a lot more at the CPU, lightening the load on the GPU? And although it might be similar to a 7600GT but you can't really compare the two. The Xbox had what, a modified GeForce2 or something? Yet that way outperformed the PC version.

What I'm trying to say is PS3 RUUUUUUUULES!

Surely it has the ability to have speech in it seeing as it comes bundled with a headset. I still haven't played this yet even though my copy is sat on the shelf.

Must have a go tonight.

Yes it has voicechat but not many use it.

Smyths Toystore are doing 40gb + Ratchet and Clank + Lego Star Wars + extra pad for £339.99

They are mainly an Northern Irish store but think they have a few shops in England.

I'm in Northern Ireland and currently about 5 minutes away from Smyths Forestside store. Not really sure about those games at all. Uncharted and *Unreal Tournament 3 are the only games I'm gagging to play.

*Yes, I know it's not released in Europe yet!

A $300/£200 PS3 would get Blu-Ray in homes faster and offset the cost of that pricepoint. If Sony moved to that pricepoint tomorrow, they could beat the Wii.

And Blu-Ray will not save Sony from 3rd place. Do you think in 6 months everybody is going to suddenly want Blu-Ray?

What Sony need to do is get the install base up quickly, to secure more 3rd party exclusives and better investment/use of Cell.

Me too - Live off Sunnyside Street.

I'm going to go into town after work to have a see what offers are kicking about down there. I'll report back!

I would like Uncharted as well.

I work at the very top of the Castlereagh Road. Think I'm going to go to Game on the way home and get either the Uncharted only pack for £309.99 or the Uncharted/Warhawk one for £329.99. Need a HDMI cable to. Bye, bye £350.

If people were buying Wiis because they couldn't afford what they really wanted, a PS3, that would make sense.

People want a HD source to show off their new LCD / Plasma HD tv's. The up take of Blu Ray is slowly but surely gaining momenteum, especially with the recent big blow to HD-DVD. The PS3 is the cheapest method to get into HD movies in regard to Blu Ray. It's a pity Sony didn't have the foresight to have official bundles with HDMI cables, Blu Ray remotes etc.

I was going to look at Game, GameStop, HMV, Zavvi and Forbidden Planet. Can't think of anywhere else to look.

I checked Zavvi's website but it doesn't seem to be up to date. I'll check HMV's website now. Buying a PS3 in Game will leave me with around £20 on my rewards card (there is money already on it) so that could go towards something else next week.

PS3 Ultimate Bundle 1 - £359.99 - save £65.96 -

Ps3: Sony Playstation 3 Console: 40gb Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction, 4gamers Hdmi Cable, Casino Royale, Spiderman 3

£359.99

That looks like a good deal although one of the games and the two Blu Rays aren't of that much interest to me.

I dont think you gets points on hardware. Could be wrong though.

You definitely used to at least.

I did for my 360, although admittedly that was December '05.

Which reminds me of a random tip: if you lose your receipt for anything bought at GAME, your reward card acts as proof of purchase. Assuming you used it, obviously.

We did for ours and that was just last month
I did when I bought my PS3 earlier today.
I think you just don't get double points on hardware pre-orders.

I may have been wrong!

:(

PS3 no. 2 purchased. Console + Uncharted + Warhawk + HDMI cable for £343.00. This Uncharted shit better be all it's cracked up to be. :P

So its £330 without the HDMI cable?

I don't think it's been confirmed yet.

But I'd reckon it'll be about £90 - if they want to competitive with most other Freeview/PVR boxes.

Sounds a bit much to me. Won't there be freeview/PVR boxes in supermarkets going for that price this year? It's effectively just a freeview tuner and a bit of software afterall. You can get a TV tuner for PC which does the exact same thing for £20 at ebuyer.
