A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

Riiiight. I'd say not being able to upgrade to v1.20 because of getting signed out every two minutes is a bit of a problem.

Assuming I can get it working though, how do you manage to arrange to play with mates? Do you just find a game with open slots and send invites sharpish?

I had that issue with a an old (reset itself ever 50 minutes) and new router (reset itself every 48 seconds). I bought the cheapest, nastiest, plasticyest router I could afterwards and I've had no issues since.

The new Clan Reservation thing for Warhawk is pretty neat- you can set aside slots for your fellow clanmembers when you join a server. Which reminds me- who's running the Rllmuk clan? I'd like to joint admin it seeing as I'm meant to be playing regularly... ;)

So, PSN Store update this week. Surely Everyday Shooter?

Looking at the other similar services, MS and Nintendo seem to announce what we'll be getting usually at least a day before they hit. Sony's silence surely just points to the fact that they are far, far too embarrassed to announce a Lair theme and some Folklore DLC. If they had any intention of releasing Everyday Shooter, PAIN or a Haze demo, etc surely they would start shouting about it fairly soon? It's not like threespeech isn't the perfect platform to whip people into a money spending frenzy over some new content.

It's almost as if SCEE don't actually like money.

This isn't the moaning thread you old gays! Online ruuules, 40 player Resistance and 32 player Warhawk tells me there are no problems with the service.

Well, we managed to get into the same game of Warhwak, but we were only able to discuss the experience because we'd had the presence of mind to leave our 360s on in a chat session - this is two people with the Jabra headsets that come with Warhawk. We got the headsets working in the PS3's built-in chat app, but of course the session ended as soon as we started the game.

I imagine the multiplayer might just be bearable if you don't have a 360 to compare it to, but in comparison it's worse by a hilarious margin. Old I may be, and gay I may yet turn, but sadly for you I'm a PS3 owner and as such this appears to be a thread for me. Ha!

I'm now thinking Warhawk's only chance might be as a chat-free 'lone wolf' multiplayer game, which isn't so bad (it's how I preferred CoD4 on the 360), but it's a bit of a pisser that three of us chose it as our new multiplayer Friday night game and it doesn't seem to be up to the job.

I had that problem with my old Linksys router. Bizarrely, turning off the SSID broadcast fixed it right up...

Indeed, I think it's about time we started speculating and wishlisting for Thursday again.

I hope Everyday Shooter comes out this week. I've really been looking forward to playing it.

Check back on Thursday evening for crushing disappointment and resentment!

Just buy it off the US store.

Hmmm. I have Linksys router, but I'm not ashamed to admit that I have the technical know-how of a +60 year old Daily Express reader.

If I were able to locate and turn off the SSID broadcast, is it likely to mess up the connection of other devices we have that use the router?

I was toying with the idea of connecting the PS3 to the router by cable and turning the wi-fi off.

You do know that you have to click the left stick to talk in Warhawk, right?

Which ones?

Stardust has custom soundtracks, Singstar, Everybody's Golf and UT3 have in-game friends lists.

My Linksys router crashed all the time with my PS3 too. Here's how you can fix it quickly: turn media sharing off in the PS3. (Tools bar, network settings.) If that does stabilise everything, I can tell you the 'proper' way to fix it in the router.

I'd imagine the other devices are already aware of the SSID so not broadcasting it shouldn't make any difference. It's only really when you're searching for something when it's needed, and even then not really necessary if you know the name.

I always had my PS3 connected directly to the router, but was thinking of moving the PS3 in order to have more room for Rock Band so switched it to wireless. I got a bit fed up with the number of times I couldn't sign in to the PSN that I just gave up and plugged the cable back in.

Maybe. I think Windows will remember the SSID if you've saved the settings before, but for other things you'll probably have to redo the wireless setup. Not too much of a big deal, even for someone with no technical knowledge (make a note of your SSID, your security type and your password, and type them in when asked), but to be honest, I'm not sure if it will make your PS3 network work anyway. It shouldn't make a difference at all - that it worked for me is unexplainable.

I suppose you could try switching SSID broadcast off, see if that affects your PS3, and then take it from there...

Thanks. I'll try this first.

I suspect this is the route I'll go though.

Skate's in-game friends stuff works proper, too. And Burnout looks like it'll work well also. Motorstorm and Warhawk have in-game friends stuff too.

Burnout works magnificently. Can't you only see players who are playing Burnout though? You can't invite someone playing Resistance for example.

OF COURSE I KNOW THAT. Actually no, I didn't know that, cheers. That might explain why neither of us could hear the other. Alright, that's not quite so bad if it works, though it was only in the last game of Warhawk that the headset seemed to activate (i.e. I could hear a light static sound). First two times it turned on OK but didn't seem to register with the PS3. I had that problem during one chat session, too - the Jabra just stayed greyed out and couldn't be found.

That solves the issue of not being able to easily mute the mic, too, though I can't say I'm that keen on click-to-chat systems - the bane of large Halo games. But if the mic is only on when you choose it to be on I might just do away with the headset and use my PS Eye to chat, as the Jabra is pretty uncomfortable and 5% more likely to fall out with every movement of my jaw. If I can learn to speak like a ventriloquist I'll be sorted.

lol.gif (To Rowan if he didn't realise)

Laugh it up while you can, i.e. before you've tried to play the game online.

I wouldn't trust any advice in this thread, especially as I couldn't find the option to turn the motion controls of either in Uncharted.

You still griping on about that?

;)

I thought of you when I was chucking grenades about yesterday. Not 100% great but I quite like it ;) .

This has reminded me of a reply I made in ATF. Someone was asking how to do something or other with their steering wheel and I said you had to reset it by accelerating in a game and then going full-lock left and hit a bunch of buttons, I forgot what. He got pretty mad when I said I made it up because he was trying it for ages.

The click-to-talk thing trips a lot of people up. I only found out because I always check the control set-up in a game before I start and spied it.

I've had all sorts of issues with my Motorola 500 headset- though TBH I'm lucky to get it working with my phone half the time anyway. I just use my old SOCOM USB headset.
