A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

Recommended Posts

Soong is famous.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/01/11/...tions-answered/

Q: Soong said “It would be nice if you didn’t just concentrate on Sony stuff. I don’t mean loads of Wii/360 stuff but some general tech news would be good.”

I’ll leave most of that to the experts at CNET, Engadget, etc. But one of the more interesting non-game (but game related) items I saw/tried out at CES was the myvu personal media viewer. These sunglasses (model below) allow you to hook in A/V cables to watch or play games in the privacy of your own head. I tried out Guitar Hero III with these shades, and it actually worked pretty well. However, I noticed that I tend to bob my head when I play that game, and it’s a bit strange since the picture follows you.

Just ordered one of these to use with the ps3. It's a shame the psp doesn't use bluetooth because it would have been pretty handy

<a href="http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/133669/igo-...im-bluetooth-k/" target="_blank">http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/133669/igo-...im-bluetooth-k/</a>

I tried to order that and got a message saying they don't ship to that address. They don't ship to London? :(

EDIT: Doesn't matter, it works now.

aah right. bugger that then. I'd rather have a bluetoth keyboard with mouse control on board. Shame the iGo doesn't have that. Would have ben great to fold up the keyboard and put it away once you were done rather than halve a full size keyboard lying about.

Does anyone elses fan get REALLY loud if the PS3 has been on for quite a while? Mine's usually pretty much silent but if it's on a few hours doing F@H then the fan suddenly kicks up a gear and gets well loud. Louder than my PC.

.::: You've touched an Xbox 360 recently and the gods are displeased with you. It's the only logical explanation. Repent before it is too late!

I saw Wirecard mentioned on NeoGAF, as a solution to buy stuff from the US PSN from the UK if your credit card isn't accepted. I'm not endorsing the service as I've not used it, but for anyone desperate for Everyday Shooter and the like, it might we worth trying.

No, mine is usually on all the time running Folding@Home when I'm not playing games or watching movies. The fan speed sounds the same all the time. Are the air vents obstructed? I have noticed the exhaust air is hotter if I don't have space around the PS3.

Are you using Google Checkout?

Yeah, it seemed the only option. In any case, it worked when I added a space in the postcode. I just need to plug the dongle into the PS3 and that's it right? I guess I really should have read about it before buying it, I just blindly followed your suggestion and bought one. In fact, you weren't even recommending it were you? Oh well, I'd better hope it's good then haha.

Nope, nothing around it and no dust at all. It's quite near my PC so I thought that might be kicking out hot air towards it but it's not. The PS3 fans out a lot of heat but it's free to move away. Strange.

If it happens a lot I might see if they can swap it.

Does this thread include discussion of what's on PSN? Can't seem to find a separate thread to talk about the likes of PAIN and Everyday Shooter.

Indeed, I think it's about time we started speculating and wishlisting for Thursday again.

I hope Everyday Shooter comes out this week. I've really been looking forward to playing it.

Check back on Thursday evening for crushing disappointment and resentment!

Didn't you hear, it is actually coming this week. I can feel it!

I DL'd the full version of War Hawk at the weekend as Live is still not working. Is it any good? I couldn't tell, as PSN wouldn't keep me signed in long enough to update more than 2% of the required v1.20 :o

In other news, Eye of Judgement is very good fun. It is with both players in the same room any way - sound like a bit too much of a pain over PSN, what with having to scan all your cards in first.

What dongle? You just pair it with the ps3

To connect to the ps3:

-go to the accessories under the ps3 menu

- select bluetooth accesories then register bluetooth device

- select keyboard/mouse then hit scan

- press Ctrl + Left fn + Right fn and wait for a green light to blink

- type in the number that comes up on the ps3 to register the device and hit enter

- it is now paired with the ps3 and will work whenever you have it opened.

You can see a video of how small it is here (it's not a dell branded one)

<a href="http://www.mobileplanet.com/video.aspx?id=417&i=150080" target="_blank">http://www.mobileplanet.com/video.aspx?id=417&i=150080</a>

Here is a review

and here is a pic, the mobile stand bit comes off

The main reason I ordered one is because it has a decent review and it also isn't massive so I can just keep it folded up on the sidetable next to the remotes when I'm not using it rather than having a massive keyboard sitting around the living room.

It isn't you can save a couple of decks and just choose which one you want when going online. Plus works amazingly well online.

I'd love to know peoples thoughts on PAIN, anyone?

It's very limited really, but it's a lot of fun - it's not got old for me just yet, thanks to the sheer range of things to hit in the city. What it really needs is a replay save feature, because you can create some really spectacular carnage. Going to try the multiplayer today, but the single-player's worth the price of admission, I reckon. A lot of people won't take to it, but this is probably what Jackass: The Game should have been. The Havok physics really add something too - it's great to be dangling from a ledge, and seeing debris drop to the ground, causing semi-exaggerated chaos below.

Not wishing to rub it in, but I think it's fucking brilliant. It's perhaps just a little too hard for me, but I'm having great fun trying to reach the later stages. Really satisfying when you figure out what to do on each stage. The music's lovely, too.

Or you could use EntroPay, which people on the Rock Band thread have been using. Works a treat.

I downloaded it the other day and am really enjoying it, especially the Mime Tossing. Considering it was only $9.99 I've already had more than my money's worth. Been on it for at least 3 or 4 hours and there's loads of trophies (i.e. Achievements) to unlock in it.

Ah right - a bit like super market shopping on line. The initial set up can be a bit time consuming, but after that, its painless.

Yup, quite like it.

I can't really judge the game itself, but Saturday night was my my first proper taste of the PS3 online multiplayer experience, and even without Live to compare it to it'd be a huge pile of stinking ass. In fact compared to the previous gen's Live experience it's a huge pile of stinking ass. It's atrocious and laughable and ghastly. In fact I'd pay £5 a month just to have my memory of it wiped clean.

And it doesn't even have the excuse that currently it's broken....
