How are they related?

other than the obvious, same style of graphics and the same development team.

Fumito Ueda said they take place on the same world and the horned boy at the end is the first in the line of horned boys which leads to Ico. The shadowy figures which appear in the Shrine of Worship are also said to be connected to the shadow guys in Ico too.

I heard people have been having problems using both HDMI & Optical out, strange though as you would have thought it would be a quite common setup, HDTV/Surround sound.

Have you had a go in the display and audio settings?

I'd like to know also. And feel free to add me, my ID is in my sig.

Wow, DMC4 looks really rubbish. Like they've just decided to copy all the good bits from GoW2, and intersperse the actions with an overkill of cutscenes that make Lost Planet blush. Really, when will Capcom, one of the biggest developers and publishers out there, come round to the idea that using good actors and having a proper script might, you know, make the game a bit better, instead of painful to watch? Back in the day, when speech in gaming was a novelty in itself, poor localisation was all part of the charm of Japanese developed games. "What do you here?" Now it's embarrassing. Every single person at Capcom should be forced to play Uncharted before they make another story led game.

Question:

I might purchase a white Ps3 (imported from Japan)

There's one of gum tree for like £200 and I just want to know how sensible it is to do this.

I NEED it to be white though to go with the white Samsung :)

As long as you don't mind not being able to play UK PS2 titles (which you wouldn't be able to do anyway over here because of Sony LOL), and don't mind a bit of faffing whenever you download PAL PSX titles from the PSN store, then you should be fine.

Hmmm, there's one on Gumtree for £160...

Awwwwww I'm not going to get excited, that's way too cheap!

Hi all,

Is there a way to have the sound through both HDMI & Optical at the same time?

(Would anyone mind if I added a few of you to my friends list, it looks quite sad at the moment)

You can add me my ID is in my sig I also would like to know if it's possible to get output out of both HDMI & Optical.

I'm sure it's one or the other with digital sound. I was fannying about with all the settings when I first got my PS3, trying to get it to be like the 360 and output out of both. With no luck. It's a huge oversight, and I have no idea the reason behind it. Other than SONYLOL, obviously.

I seem to be having persistent problems with the networking on this PS3. It downloads demos and suchlike fine. It plays online fine, what little of that I have done. But I constantly get signed out of PSN, which is a minor irritant if it happens while I'm browsing the store, since obv I get booted out of that too. Today I tried to set it up with WMP11 on my XP computer to try sharing MP3s etc. After quite a lot of faff I got the PS3 and WMP to see each other, but when I tried to browse from the PS3 I just got a DNLA protocol error before I could see any files or whatever. Then it dropped off the list and now I can't make it see WMP11 again. Augh!

I have the PS3 in the DMZ. Both it and the PC are on static IPs in the same subnet etc. It's a wired connection both ways. Ports 80, 443 and 5223 are forwarded to the PS3 on TCP, and ports 3478 and 3479 are forwarded on UDP. I can't think of anything else relevant but gnash and wail and all that.

Any ideas about all that lot?

Thanks for the help guys! BASTARDS. Anyway, it just started working after I ... well, plugged it into a new telly. I don't think that's the reason, but it's the only thing I changed. If you need any advice on fixing this problem, I am still not the man!

I just bought the PS3 eyecam thing. It's quite amazing, you get a nice image and it seems to be 100% real time. For 30 quid its really impressive, especially since it has a good mic too. Not had any mates come online to fully test it, does the quality remain the same when its going over the net to someone else?

According to this FAQ, you might also need to open TCP 2869 and UDP 1900 for your PS3 to see Windows Media Player 11. And make sure the ports are open on Windows Firewall (or better still, switch it off).

Cheers. No windows firewall. I'm inclined not to touch the ports while it's working, but if it decides to stop again then I will give those a go also.

It must be hobbled in software because it does occasionally come through both for me. Each time it happens it is either during or just after running Folding@Home. So there must be some little "bug" in F@H that is causing it to break the restriction/fix the problem.

I went back to SOTC last night and got up to Colossus 12, it's as amazing as I remember it which is weird as I can't remember why I stopped playing in the first place. I've also tried replaying Ico a few times before but the combat really gets in the way of the game, if they re-released it without fighting shadow monsters with a stick it'd probably be my most payed game ever. Both fantastic anyway, and SOTC in particular looks lovely through my PS3.

Sony are showing off forthcoming PS3 games at CES on Tuesday. I'm hoping they'll be giving firm dates for LBP and Home.

Oh man, if they finish the LBP/Home talk by saying everyone can try both for themselves on PSN I'll probably diiiiie.

They'll probably mention the Haze demo coming on Thursday too.
